Default Q-Tip Says Ol' Dirty Bastard & RZA Battled Him In High School + Cappa Interview

Cappadonna also remembers some of his favorite stories about Ol' Dirty Bastard.

A Tribe Called Quest and The Wu-Tang Clan both came up in the '90s in New York, with both groups releasing heralded albums and leaving an indelible mark in Hip Hop history.

However, before either group released its first project, it seems some of each group's members had occasion to meet.

Days before the anniversary of Ol' Dirty Bastard's death (November 13), ATCQ's Q-Tip shared a story about the late rapper on Twitter, revealing that Dirt and The RZA of The Wu-Tang Clan battled Q-Tip:

In an interview on Vlad TV, Wu member Cappadonna recalled stories about Dirt McGirt as well.

"We've been through a lot of stuff," said Cap of himself and Big Baby Jesus. "I remember when we just stopped right on the FDR drive, and just got out and started puffin' an L. I remember one time being at Marley Marl's house, leaving that, and breaking Marley Marl's mailbox, rollin' it over because Dirty parked up on the lawn instead of in front of the house. He thought it was a driveway. I don't know how, but...we was up there. And after he... ran Marley Marl's mailbox over, he left like it was a hit-and-run! Like, nah, everybody know you did it, man!"

Cappadonna's favorite story about Ason Unique involved another New York Rap legend. "The funniest thing I think I seen and the most exciting thing was when he took the mic from Biggie, when Biggie was doing a show," said Cappa. "Biggie was on the mic; he took the mic from Biggie, rest in peace, Biggie. Love you the most. And Biggie started being his hype man. Biggie was so amped up. Once Dirty start goin' in, Biggie forgot it was his show. He was on the side just doin' him."

"You know if that was anybody else, they would've got sandwiched, G," said Cappadonna.

Ol' Dirty Bastard passed away on November 13, 2004 from a drug overdose. He collapsed while he was recording in the studio.

    Wow! Thanks for sharing!

I was born in '93, but I miss those days when rappers were real.

"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth" (Rev. 3:15-16)
