    Default New RAKIM!!!

Rakim is back with a new solo single, and it's fucking sick, sick, sick!! redeeming himself from the bullshit track with DMX, here the God MC delivers a joint almost as powerful as "Holy Are You", story telling in full effect, vintage hip-hop flavored beat - hard drums, a moving bass line, a gripping almost oriental sounding reed melody, and a powerful hook/bridge filled with turntablism and horns. i really wonder who produced this, cuz whoever it is he and Rakim should definitely hook up for more material... as you hear the track is a dedication to the late Nelson Mandela, and there's a possibility that it's off the soundtrack from the upcoming movie on his life - "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom".

so we got 4 joints from Rakim this year, two of them would have been standouts on "The Seventh Seal" while the two others feature stellar verses from Ra but painfully wack beats and guests... here's download links to them all for you while we wait for a new Ra album, the two first tracks shows a whole lot of promise don't you think:

The fuck. How come he sounds exactly like 26 years ago. His voice hasn't changed at all, amazed to hear that. This a great track, it's dope that he flipped the words into a song.

    Thanks for the links claa.

FunkyDrummer, yeah it's fucking crazy, both this and the Marco Polo track could've just as easily have been lifted from "Don't Sweat the Technique".

i believe one of the samples is from this (or one of the recordings of it):

saw the God a month ago. shit was magnificent. like watching Jordan live.
The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.

People are too stupid to effectively conspire to do anything, but not too stupid to come up with conspiracy theories.
