I'm not surprised. I always saw it as dumb when on commercials or tv shows, Neanderthals were shown speaking gibberish.

My understanding is that they were fairly intelligent and almost the same as us, so this isn't a shocking discovery.

One thing i thought was interesting from what i've read is that they had little or no creative facility. I'm sure that gave homo sapiens an edge, but they still managed to fuck their way into the bloodline of prehistoric european homo sapiens.
