I thought it was a dope album.
I can only speak for myself.
As someone who actually bought the album when it came it out, I can only remember it as a major disappointment. It came out in 99, when the Wu already had lost a lot of their magic. The album totally lacked in production. Not a single Rza track. Earlier Wu production had diggers searching for years for obscure samples, while this album had at least three tracks made from samples taken from the same artist (Chris Spheeris), which is just lazy. Furthermore, the guy who 4 years earlier spent a whole skit on telling biters to get lost and be original now makes an album with tracks like "Pop Shit", which is a ripped off Swizz beatz track, which wasn't even produced by Swizz, i.e. he became what he earlier hated. It was just an uninspired, unoriginal album, with few bright moments, like "Live from NY". Thats why I disliked it. For someone picking up the album now, that whole context is irrelevant.
Very good question.
My favourite Raekwon Album.
Havent listen to this album in a while their are a few stand outtracks but from my memory the album wasnt cohesive.
Ghostface on 50 Cent:
"Yo, this ape needs to stop injecting himself with them stroiods. He's acting up, he better chill out before New York puts his ass on the bench."
Ghostface on Eminem:
"That pilgrim needs to back off. He ain't got no street cred, thats my word."
I bought it back when it came out also and I think like most people at the time I was quite disappointed with it. It just lacked the impact and wu feel of Cuban Linx. Saying that though I have to admit that lyrically Rae is better on this and in hindsight the album has aged quite well. As a hip hop album it's pretty solid, there are some great joints on it for sure but as a whole the production is pretty bland.
"I pledge allegiance to the hip hop"Method Man
^He was just on some next level then.
The story intertwined with the slang is ridiculous.
When I hear Immobilarity I sometimes question if Raekwon is my favourite General!
He is that good on this album.
Only 3 worthy tracks on this album to me
Live from ny, the table,sneakers

Human Instrumentality Project
Sacrificing older life to create a new lifeform blessed with the fruit of life
Some people were able to stay awake for the whole album?
A lot of good points here. It was lacking a lot of things and was a major letdown from CL. I know what made CL special to me was Ghost features and RZA beats. Both obviously missing here. I understand its a Rae solo but I dont wanna hear American Cream Team over some generic beats. My other problem with the album was how it closed, I remember hating the last 4 songs. Overall its not the worst album but there are not many highlights. Peace
Lack of wu feel, boring production and some overused content hurt this album despite rae's flow and lyricism being at its peak. Raes best years as an mc imo are from Ironman-Immobilarity. If only rae and rza had been tighter they coulda dropped another classic inbetween those 2 albums smh....
