Parts of Britain have become "unrecognisable" due to mass immigration, the leader of the eurosceptic UK Independence Party told activists in a rallying cry ahead of European elections in May. Nigel Farage, speaking at UKIP's spring conference in Torquay on Friday, claimed the opening the UK's borders to migrants from new EU members in eastern Europe had damaged social cohesion across the country. "Eighty percent of us in this country believe open door immigration is irresponsible, against the interests of the people in this country and that it must stop," he told the annual conference. "All of this has happened because we now have a totally distorted labour market in Britain, because of the massive oversupply that has come to us from eastern Europe."
