this is a scientific look at hip-hop...a breakdown pointing out that a great deal of MCs got no real skills and aren't deep/complex enough with their lyricism which inturn has dummed down the music...numming the minds of todays consumer

Having a large vocabulary doesn't necessarily equal being a complex rapper.

Its not the size its what you do with it. Lol.

Case in point Raekwon who raps in some sort of gangster matrix code but all his raps can be broken down to two statements:

I wouldn't judge Shakespeare on his vocab either, he created words but it obviously was about how he made em bang. Most people who went to his plays were illiterate. Bill was an entertainer 1st and a word creator last.

thing is both of those guys try very hard to have "big" words. someone like kool g rap is placed high while still not overtrying

I like Aesop Rock and Canibus but I'm picking DMX all day. While a very interesting and cool study the ability to use these unique slang and make them listenable (Wu-Tang) should have been given merit too. Canibus and Aesop Rock at times sound like they've just randomly picked words out of a dictionary which make no sense at all. I guess Ghost can fall in to this category but at least his slang is original lol
