haha, while i like Streety Dream and used to think It Was Written was on par with Illmatic, over time i realised it really wasn't. Nas' crime raps don't do much for me to be honest, he's obviously a great story teller, but IWW is sort of all one pace/theme and it comes off as trying too hard at times.

Illmatic feels like an epoch in and of itself.

I thought there was more contention over whether Stillmatic is better than IWW or not. I remember when i first started posting here, it wasn't too long after Stillmatic was released, and people here overwhelmingly called it a "classic". Always felt it was an ok album with some standout tracks.

lolz @ calling that album classic. Fuck people are just clueless. Other than the 2 albums being discussed here, I don't think I've heard any Nas album more than 5 thymes absolute max. I think I've heard everything up to that album where he did a song with Jay-Z. Maybe not. If I went through all his albums I couldn't even say for sure which ones I have and haven't heard. I couldn't name a single song off most of them. Other than that 'Made You Look' jam, which was some trill gutter rap, I haven't heard anything of note from Nas since IWW.

As for Stillmatic, I always thought people overrated it a bit. Good album, no doubt, but can't be compared to Illmatic and IWW. Personally, I prefer God's Son over Stillmatic.
