The Roots album has grown on me immensely.
I have four countenders that imo were head and shoulders above the rest:
Young Fathers - Dead
CunninLynguists - Strange Journey Vol. 3
Madlib & Freddie Gibbs - Pinata

I always said CunninLynguists had AOTY, but Young Fathers are a close second, been bumping that all day

After listening to the NPR stream of 36 Seasons, it will be up there too.
It was released this year im pretty sure, yeah dope album.
I kinda forgot Run the Jewlez 2, i think i actually prefer the first, i prefer the beats on it but that was dope as hell.
Do people honestly not think CunninLynguists had one of the AOTY's? I know music is subjective n all but i cant see how any hip-hop fan would not love it
I forgot that came out this year, I'm gonna give it another spin. I love the CunninLynguists LPs that have less features on them. The strange journey series has been dope tho
