Well yeah thats kind of the problem. Wasn't it in the dark knight where the Joker says if a soldier dies no one says anything but kill someone else and everyone goes mad, because the soldier dying is part of the plan. So 40-50 people dying in the middle east on a daily basis is kind of normal, 12 dying in France is horrendous.

Thing is it wasn't normal for people to die in the middle east in this way 15 years ago. Sure there were problems but fucking hell in 3 years 300,000 people have died in Syria. Yet nobody really gives a shit. Yemen has been in turmoil for a while they are being fucked by Al-Queda, they say the gunman in France were trained by Yemeni Al-Queda.

Look at Libya, is that even making the news? All of Libya's big cities are now run by different factions, from Islamists, to Socialists, secularists, to Al-queda and ISIS. Its completely fucked up and its receiving no media attention.

Theres news floating around now that Boko Haram has torched a town in Northern Nigeria killing some 2000 people. Not fully confirmed but you would expect media outlets to go absolutely crazy over this, but its seen as kinda normal so they don't really care.

Sorry but the majority of muslims do sympathize with jihadi islam. Its just they can't be seen to support it openly, for fear of condemnation. I wish that fanatical muslims would start attacking gulf states. They are the biggest dogs, they spread radical islam all over the globe ( Doctrine, financially), yet want there own house to be immune.

the types of events reported in this thread are all mentioned in the evening news on (national) TV here. there've been more in depth documentaries about Boko Haram etc. etc. as well.

we get daily updates on Syria and Iraq, less frequently we hear about Afghanistan (used to have daily updates too) these days, same goes for Lybia. loads of one hour special reports on war zones around the world and terrorism, situation in the Gulf states as well, can't really complain about tv at all here, more so about some newspapers though. all african and asian elections are covered as well by TV for example. lots of reports this week on countries like Uganda and Ruanda.

we get lots of long form documentaries on North Korea and Iran too.

the attack on the area surrounding Baga by Boko Haram (over 100 victims) has been covered at length.
