Simon 'Scotty' Pegg now a writer on Star Trek III

Roberto Orci, who was to write & direct, left the project last month, presumably because he didn't like the direction the script was going in.

Pegg will resume his part as Scotty in Star Trek III. He will now also cowrite the script (with Doug Jung).

Pegg has writing experience. He wrote for 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'The World's End'



Justin Lin (Fast & Furious) will now direct the movie.

The release date has not been postponed despite these changes. They are still eying a July 2016 release.
