Default GZA Teams With Tom Morello for "The Mexican", Dark Matter Album Coming Soon

It's been seven years since Wu-Tang Clan's GZA dropped a solo album, 2008's Pro Tools. His upcoming album, Dark Matter, has been in the works for years. Now, it's set to come out in the fall.

For a new, non-album single "The Mexican", GZA has teamed up with Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello. It's a new version of Babe Ruth's 1972 song of the same name that that has been sampled numerous times.

Hanni El Khatib and Unknown Mortal Orchestra's Ruban Nielson also contributed to the track, which was produced by GZA and arranged by Jose "Choco" Reynoso.

Correction: An earlier version of this story indicated that "The Mexican" will be on Dark Matter. It is a non-album single. We were given incorrect information.

    It's dope!

Morello´s solo guitar sounds like a vinyl DJ scratch.

i'm a huge fan of the original song this is based on:

and being so familiar with the original material, i wasn't blown away on first listen but it has the potential to grow for sure. GZA sounds really good here, just as he did on "ABT", the tracks production kind of reminds me of "0% Finance" but compare GZA's flow between those two songs and it's just day and night. great to have him back!
