the singles were very promising and then last week Black Market Militia member William Cooper's second album finally dropped
got my copy today, a very satisfying listen with some great features : Pace Won, Nature, Reef, Sticky Fingaz, Planet Asia, Killah Priest (two features), ILL BILL, Trife Diesel, 9th Prince, Timbo King, Diabolic, Big Twins, Big Noyd, Rah Digga & Stoneface (who released a full project with producer BP before called 'BP presents ... Stoneface'). now that's an impressive guest list and they do deliver
the album (fully produced by BP) has an overall hard sound to it, grimey production on a great many tracks. there's the occasional soulful track too. this is as much a showcase for BP as it is for Cooper. two songs flip samples we've heard in other famous songs in our chosen genre before, they sound dope here too. on the real I hadn't expected BP to come through with the heat on this level. it's good to see he can carry a whole album
the only track I'm not feeling that much right now is the last but one track 'Second Chance' (it's not the lyrics, it's the beat that doesn't work for me)
I might post some more feedback later, I've only just listened once. all I can say right now is it definitely met my expectations. I can already tell this is the type of album I can play the whole way through without skipping anything really. this feels like a really cohesive album, not just a collection of songs. this is at least as good as his first album
btw a lot of these wu related releases of late are shitting all over Rae's FILA imo so Chef may want to rethink his formula for the next round
