I would guess that its because people enjoy her music. Thats why recording artists are usually popular.

She's popular because she's literally a carbon copy of what came before her which was popular.
The way most people work is they follow what others do....you know : so they can be popular
Showing others they listen to Taylor Swift thus proving they are part of the popular crowd.
Even if they don't really like her that much or her music either:
It boils down to being included and having a sense of worth among one's company
I guess you could even say it's like pier pressure lol
It's interesting to see how many people still listen to old music which has stood the test of time
Or even listening to their music which is often by themselves not considered to be "Popular"
But they don't just like it....they love it.
Popularity demands a group or consensus to approve whether something is or not "Popular"
Therefor it isn't measured by merit it is measured by amount and so:
It becomes a numbers game with nothing at it's heart or core....souless.
Or in other words....it's just boring.
As everyone follows the outside limelight for guidance....resulting in celebrity status idol worship.
All the while under the guise of your best friend who eveyone loves --
With views & numbers to back it up lol
