BSBD & Deniro Farrar - Cliff of Death II

To me, it feels like it's been a rather slow year, but admittedly, I haven't really listened to a lot of new albums either.

Outside of Hip Hop, I think Jake One & Mayer Hawthorne's Tuxedo was dope. Great summer album.
I think its missing any big albums really. Aside from Kendrick its all been underground albums, theres no middle ones that everyone is talking about, maybe bar Ghost, Joey, Vince Staples & Bronson, but ive heard mixed reports on all.

I forgot Fashawn had an album out.

You hear Kno and Sadistik have an EP coming out? Thats gonna be dope

Yeah. Not a big fan of Sadistik though, his voice just doesn't do it for me.

Will definitely check it out though.

Not too keen on sadistik either but can never go wrong with kno on the boards. I got his flowers for my father album and the beats on that were fuckin incredible. The lyrics were far too self indulgent and 'emo' for me but those beats.... If you dig BSBD & Kno style production then its a winner

ewww Kool Keith with a new release this year!!? didnt know about that one

good thread though gotta check that Canibus release still.

and through headphones. I Dont Like Shit, is probably a dark down play, but like i said through a system in my whip with the sun shinning i sometimes feel like im in Mr. Rogers neighborhood playing with model trains, breeze blowing all in through the open windows right after coming in from chilling on the porch.

i might be willing to bet everyone on this board is sleeping on that Drake album though. i caught the buzz over four months late. just saying, Drake truly switched up his style for the better on this one and its super concentrated. its dumb but there is honestly not a single track that i skip and theres like 17 18 of em on there. that means a lot for an album to be able to do that, in my opinion that is. and its great night time driving music as well, beats are a tad dark, not sappy and sad though, just dark. for real if you wanna experience this new Drake start with the track 6 Man off his new tape. i find myself asking people if they think that Drake album was freestyled or written but the people that im asking could give a shit about anything like that

^Will check. Last time I listened to Sadistik was The Balancing Act where he had a bunch of beats from Emancipator's Soon It Will Be Cold Enough (which I absolutely loved).

edit- the Sadistik album, that is. Might just give the Drake album a shot as well with the amount of praise you're giving it, Yo-man!

haha. ill be checking that sadistik album if the production is like dark ass BSBD but i get tired of Kno real quick.

drake is on something right now and i dont know what, whether its a break up, drugs, or pent up frustration with goofy ass people he deals with in the mainstream but id like to know what exactly it is, just like id like to know what Aesop Rock was doing when he wrote Labor Days. shit Drakes latest track (0-100/The Catch Up) has a fucking James Blake sample in it, like what, does Drakes Torontotarian ass even know who James Blake is? his album will fry your brain though so be warned you wont really be learning anything of use.

    Worth it:

Mr Green - Live From The Streets
Jedi Mind Tricks - The Thief & The Fallen

Some tracks on this album are heat:

    Malik B & Mr Green - Unpredictable
    Capone-N-Noreaga - Lessons

Pretty short list this year, considering it's almost August.

You are starting to make a case for the Drake album.

Lol i remember when i heard a James Blake sample on a Big KRIT album a few years back I was thinking the same thing.

    YES

Southernunderground is an expertly produced album as well, as was Strange Journey Vol. 3 imo that album was outstanding.

I thought so too. It hasn't been made every year that I can find via searching, but it's been made consistently since 2005.

Action Bronson - Mr Wonderful - Soild
Camp Lo - Ragtime Hightimes - Listenable
Joey Baddass - B4DA$$ - Couldn't get into this but seems to be rated highly
Ghostface - Twelve Reasons To Die 2 - Just started listening to this but sounds solid so far.

Looking back at what I was listening to last year I feel this year has been better so far, but each to their own.
You reminded me, 'Time' by Camp Lo is one of the greatest songs they've ever made.
