^ yeah fan made but dope
I can listen to Madvillainy and Vaudeville Villain straight through w/no skips, those albums are flawless
peace FD.. i don't really have too much loose DOOM stuff laying around right now, but as others have pointed out is that one of the most beautiful things with MF is that he's fucking great at making front-to-back albums that BANG. check out "Madvillainy", but seriously as good as that is it took me many listens before i really dug it as much as i do now. i think "The Mouse & The Mask" might be a better album to start with and "MM... Food" is serious too.
daily updates: news, articles, reviews, the best compilations on the net. that true skool street hop!
r.i.p. Johan D, Kaddu, Ricke a.k.a. "Slick Rick" and the rest of the fallen soldiers - you'll never be forgotten!
Doom has a lot of great records but Operation Doomsday is really the best introduction to his music. I think it sums up everything hes about and features his best songs. I think thats a classic LP and since it was his first it had the most influence on the underground scene at the time. His later albums (not counting collabo LPs) although great were like different versions of the same thing.
I wasn't a fan of that Dangermouse shit, I like Dangermouse's productions for Gnarls Barkley and various pop records but his regular Hip Hop beats are dull to my ears.
yeah yeah. dont start/even listen to that Mouse and the Mask shit.
Madvillany is considered a classic (and is), i only skip one track (Americaz Most Blunted) because that stuff is lameee.
MM... Food is tight but it has a lot of Doom playing around with samples. but every track where he raps on that tape is fucking some of my fav rhymes/tracks from him. this was my first Doom release that i listened to and i loved it... made me a fan for life, in fact ima listen to this shit right now. super catchy with some funny ass bars, good features too.
Operation Doomsday, i agree with Sha. i overlooked this release growing up, but looking and listening back to this specific CD, this is something i go back to way more often than the other two. its just straight front to back DOOM rhymes. Doom on the beats as well, i think. some ill lines that i didnt hear until i got older... theres a lot of lyrics on this tape. and Doom is coming HARD, he doesnt really spit hard bars like these often.
"speak your peace but only once your spoken to first,
now let me hear your verse while im choking you with bubbly fine lines like an editor,
throw them to my collection of skulls and spines, like Predator."
hahahah, this shit is old school. this track is usually a go to for me at the bar if i'm taking over the jukebox with hip hop. go with the flow
that Viktor Vaughn tape is fun, Vaudeville Villain, worth the listen.
DOOM's ill.
Yeah fuck that dangerdoom shit. Skip it. Fuck I haven't hear Doomsday in yeeaarrrs. Gotta c if I've got that on my xduoo. Actually don't reckon I do. Might have to dl again. I'm one of seemingly few big fans of vv2: venemous villian. It's obviously a lazy effort from doom, a 'just for the sake of it' release in a year where he already had like 3 other albums. But it's some unique and I think fucking great production. Insomniacs or something. I don't know shit about them. Love this album tho n fall back/titty fat may be my fave doom track.
But yeah madvilliany def the best. And mm food is a great listen too. Fucking love count bass d's beat on that shit. And the first vv album is great too. Skip dangerdoom and born like this.
vv2 is underrated. The rapping is solid and the beats are good for being winners of a beat contest organized especially for this album. I'd have expected crappy beats with such a concept but the whole thing pans out well imo
Retired.
i really havent given VV2 that many listens, cause i didnt care for the beats at all. ill spin it now just cause.
but yo. Born like This seriously wasnt bad and notice how im not saying "that bad". at first im like yeah fuck this. but i went back and listened to it and now i keep it in my everyday playlists for DOOM.
theres those tracks with Rae and Ghost which are dope. then theres a big ol posse cut with fucking Slug on it which really makes me lol. and then theres another track with some female emcee that (just judging off her voice/verse) i wanna fuck. what im saying is the features are on point.
as is the rest of the tracks to be honest with you imo. this is kinda set up very similar to Madvilliany with the very short tracks and samples and whatnot.
"once sold an inbred skinhead a nigger joke" hahah. hes got some funny lines on this album just like normal Doom.
^it was just scrappy and lazy as an album. Funnily enough I listened to it for the first thyme since like the first month of its release, just recently, n yeah they're pretty good tracks. Just a dud album, especially for doom.
Oh shit I didn't know that shit about the beat contest for vv2 at all. Interesting. I fucking love most the beats on that shit.
How ta fuck yall can hate on dangerdoom?....
Dope record.
^^ I agree! DangerDoom is dope as fuck!! The only thing that annoyed me slightly was some of the stupid cartoon skits, but I edited most of them out a long time ago!
Top tier tracks:
Sofa King
The Mask feat. Ghost
Old School feat. Talib
Mince Meat
Bada Bing
Space Ho’s (Madlib Remix)
All the beats are dope for the most part, and there was also an EP with extra tracks and remixes.
Peace!
No skipable tracks on danger doom for me. And that cartoon style is not bothering me at all, it just adds more pozitive stuff to the whole sound of a record.
