Deja Vu in French, literally means "already seen"
I think that the initial seeing ,having done or having been somewhere before occurs in the dream state.
Then when experiencing the same thing again in the mainstay reality, it is then Deja Vu. Now why do we human beings have this ability or phenomena?
I'm not so sure anyone knows at this point. But I do have a feeling that it most definitely happens for a reason. Now, to push this even further into insanity being converted into outsanity.
If we were to assume what I have said so far is true, to experience something in a dream state before it's occurrence in the mainstay.
Then we could say that it is time travel? time will not be traveled with machines but with our awareness of the expansion/exploration of consciousness.
If it is time travel indeed, perhaps the reason for it is the preparation of an important event in the mainstay.
When you feel the sensation of Deja Vu , give in, & listen, to your intuition. Take control of the short term coincidences,
while not only going with , but merging with the flow.
(I do not necessarily believe these thoughts of mine, but I find that entertaining these ideas is fascinating at the least.)

While your radio is tuned to pick up a certain frequency and thus a single radio station, our universe consists of atoms that are oscillating at a unique frequency that other universes are not vibrating at.
Universes are usually not “in phase”, that is vibrating at the same frequency, with each other due to the divisions caused by time, but when they are “in phase” it is theoretically possible to “move back and forth” between universes.
So although it is “uncertain”, it could be possible that when you are experiencing déjà vu, you are “vibrating in unison” with a parallel universe, explains Dr. Kaku

Deja vu is common in people with epilepsy. I've heard it explained that its just your brain catching up with what has already happened a split second ago

I donno. I get a sense of déjà vu a lot where it doesn't feel like I've experienced it in this life time it feels like it's from hundreds of years ago.
