I know he is the chosen one, but people act like he is God himself. He could be coming down my street and I would not even look out of my window to see him. I just do not understand it.

Why do people make such a big fuss about Justin Beiber?
Why do people make such a big fuss about the royal family?
Why do people make such a big fuss about movie stars?
Why do people make such a big fuss about Admiral Crumple?
The answer's always the same. I don't need to tell you what it is.
I think this particular pope would agree with your opinion David. he's very down to earth unlike the disaster (imo) that was Benedict XVI
while both Francis & Benedict probably consider themselves to be servants of God Benedict gave off the impression of being a vain man in the way he presented himself (clothing etc) and not being a man of the common people
we have had a good bunch of recent popes it's just that society has changed so much it's difficult for any pope to reach a wide audience in the western world. but in areas like Latin America & Africa the Catholic church is still growing I think
Paul VI (second Vatican concily brought the church closer to the common people imo), John Paul I (well, for the 33 days he reigned - probably got offed cuz he was looking into the finances of the Vatican bank), John Paul II (pope who was very involved in politics for the people's sake) were good popes imo, I see Francis following in their footsteps although he's not weighing as much on politics as John Paul II, while Benedict XVI was more like a throwback to times past
well at least all of these popes (Benedict XVI definitely as well) actually lived by the Bible, unlike some of their less illustrious predecessors

I had the same thoughts today when I woke up and turned on the TV.
compared to the previous two popes, this one is Bernie Sanders. he seems like the first pope of the 21 century. I don't think he's going to change doctrine or anything, but it's quite impressive to see a "progressive" pope. the last one was an idiot
A photo of Raekwon and the Pope would be a marker that the singularity is about to happen.

I think the only good Christians were the Brown and Black people during the first 300 years of Christianity. in 312, when evil Constantine converted to Christianity, it all went to hell
