What comes first: Job or family

I have to be very honest about this topic. I'm stuck between the two for a reason but I have no children. The way I view it, family first but businesses want you to place your job before family.

Has anyone ever had to choose between the two?

True story. My cousin who used to be a poker dealer at a casino in Ohio had to work on the day of our Uncle's funeral. Why? Employment has a great power over people, especially the working poor. People getting let go because they got sick, a mother took ill, etc.

Yes. I've stated this numerous of times but role reversal is heavy in the inner cities and among the rich and poor. You'd be surprised to know that there are women who are the breadwinners of the relationship and the leader.
