Default So apparantly 2015 is one of the best years for hip-hop EVER.... wtf

Ive read on other forums that this has been one of the best years for hip-hop ever, not just this decade, but EVER. I have been a bit behind this year but from what I have heard this year isnt even a patch on other years from this decade, such as 2010 or 2012.

I think most of the over exaggeration about this year is from the critical and commercial success of Kendrick Lamar, hes on the top of pretty much every best of list of 2015. An album that I definitely appreciated but appreciated more than liked. Really only listened to it a few times.

    In 2010 we had:

    My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
    Sir Lucious Left Foot
    Distant Relatives
    KRIT Wuz Here
    The Stimulus Package
    How I Got Over
    Apollo Kids
    Marcberg
    Gas Mask

    In 2012 we had:

    good kid MAAD city
    Life Is Good
    Reloaded
    R.A.P Music
    Dice Game
    Trophies
    Cancer 4 Cure
    Rare Chandeliers
    4Eva and a Day

A lot of those albums still get pretty heavy rotation, especially the shit from 2010 whereas I've barely listened to shit from this year more than a few times. Although that Vince Staples was dope and the new Pusha T is the fuckin SHIT.

When you see Big Sean and Future listed as some of the best hip-hop from the year you know it cant be good.

Still have to check out a few of those but I have been disappointed by most of the ones I heard. Cant see myself bumping many of these years down the road.

the years have been blending together for me but if i recall Thug dropped three bangers this year, Barter 6, Slime Season 1 & 2, and waiting on the third hopefully before new years.

but with a list like Origins it seems like it turned out to be a great year for him.

but outside of my new found Thug obsession there was only a handful of discs spinnable in the far future for me

Some good stuff came out. But it came out mostly in the first half of the year.

2nd half was quiet, for me.

DS2 is fantastic. And some other ones that people said. I usually just end up listening to individual songs these days so its my fault that I can't really comment on which albums were good.

The Busta Rhymes mixtape was great. Its great to hear somebody I used to be a big fan of back on form.

Most of these I only listened to once, if at all. Very subpar year, Joey, Pusha, Kdot and The Game I can fuck with, other shit is boring. Can't believe anybody liked that Can Ox album, shit was horrible

LOL@Check Two. I'm still stuck with the 80's and 90's rappers LOL. I'll never like new rappers.

There was a lot of other really good albums released in 2015, not sure if one of the greatest though

To me most of the shit has been forgettable, literally only bumped most albums a few times and got bored with them. Cant understand the love this year is getting. Pusha T and Vince Staples did drop fuckin bangers tho. Hard shit with a modern sound.

And this is the track of '15 for me
