    Usually if a utility pole is on your property, the ownership transfers to you in the U.S. when you buy the plot of land. You may be obligated to replace it or pay for maintenance if something mounted on it breaks.

    It's 100% legal here to install surveillance equipment on your own property.

    What do you need the tapes for though? I understand recording to stop something from happening, but if you're filming people eff and let them finish, why keep the tape and archive it? you clearly don't care about whatever it is you're trying to prevent.
