Hipsters are a result of the internet. Now everyone can customize what they think is cool and their expose isn't limited to geography or time. Enough people were doing this for it to become a national 'thing'. I don't think it's going anywhere because that's going to be the natural of all trends from now on as long as we have internet or that level of connectivity. Hipsters my age are nothing like hipsters my younger brothers age but they get their ideas and put them together the same way. ASAP mobb is a good example. They're from Harlem, but their influence and sound is from Houston, fashion from Europe etc. A lot of hipsters are faggots though and they've started that white ppl tradition of trying to prove something inauthentic way too much that killed Rock and roll.

It stretches into the downtown areas of West Coast cities too. San Fran is filled with junks and L.A. has some pretty desolate and fucked up areas right downtown.

I've never really seen that before in other cities apart from a hobo here and there.

The asthetics of 'the hood' isn't bad. At most it's the culture and mentality of some young men there, not even the older people or women. In Houston they have the wards but they build miles of apartments (private) back to back during the oil boom years and now they're a problem because you can't cluster that many poor people in one place and not expect it to turn into the gutter, like bloodsport Connecticut.

A teacher friend of mine told me that his students from the hood feel safer in the hood than in the suburbs becaue they 'get it' and know nothing will happen if you stay out of the fuckary.
