    Default Trump is like Erdogan 2.0

    Erdogan is that dude, right? Talks outta the side of his mouth, yet it works in Turkey. So, the bankstets said "oh shit" this could work in the USA, as long as we steer the press, the masses will love this.

    Absurd, right? Social engineering in our face.

    Trump and Erdogan are similar but Erdogan is on another level. Erdogan has the same make Turkey great like the mighty Ottoman empire was etc etc. Same bullshit populism.

    Erdogan is a master politician and manipulator. His followers see him as some sort of prophet, he has total control of Turkey. So much so he had Hedo Turkoglu become the chairman of the basketball federation, nobody stood against him on the orders of Erdogan. The previous chairman who was a legendary player did a great job but he was called to the palace one day and its said he left crying. Erdogan has a movie of his life coming out soon called 'the captain'. A top TV drama about the birth of the Ottoman empire has the main character use the same lines Erdogan does in his speeches. Its said Erdogan himself goes over the script of this popular TV show which i can believe because its basically Erdogan propaganda.

    Trump and Erdogan aren't comparable imo. The US media is exaggerating Trumps 'ideology' which, like most successful Americans, doesn't exist. Trump doesn't have strong opinions one way or another. He's a mild nationalist, but is just are ideologically blank and 'american' as Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush 1, Reagan etc etc. Slit tilts in one direction or another but no visible conviction to any ideology or 'big picture goal. They're all pragmatic. We haven't had an ideological president since Kennedy and he would be considered a right leaning moderate in Europe .

    From what I know about Trump he's self centered and petty and hates 'losing' based on his own self adapted competitions it various people. He's slightly anti-establishment as well but, again, nothing alarming.

    @Han,

    What's the role/claim on the Byzantine legacy in Turkey. I know the current admin is all about the Ottoman Empire and idk anything about anyone between Erdogan and Attaturk. I saw an unfortunately Russian documentary that randomly made blunt assertions that RAASHIA was the 'sole heir' of the Byzantine Empire. Like, out of fucking no-where. I was wondering if that was at all a spot of contention.

    Similar in terms of being populists, using cheap political tactics simply to win. Both have huge ego's, Erdogan is also petty and hates losing, he openly attacks journalists, celebrities and just a few days ago roasted a comedian because that comedian had the audacity to ridicule that TV drama i was talking about. For Erdogan he can do no wrong, everything he does and says is correct.

    Ideologically different ofcourse, completely different worlds.

    Russia's claim to be Byzantines heir is solely based on religious grounds, Istanbul being the home of Orthodox Christianity and the Russians seeing themselves as defenders of the Orthodox, theres no real link between the two. Its like the Holy Roman Empire, had nothing to do with the actual Roman empire. Nobody ever took them seriously on the matter.

    When the Ottomans took the city the Sultan did claim the title 'Caesar of Rome' and we Turks still call Greeks 'Roman'. The Ottomans called the balkans 'Rumeli' which means 'land of the Romans'. Its probably most appropriate to call the Ottomans the heirs to the Eastern Roman empire, they controlled the same lands, had the same system in place, almost identical really. Like the dome structure of mosques was brought in copying the Hagia Sophia, the star on the muslim crescent was added after taking Istanbul. The star was a Byzantine symbol and they just added it to the muslim crescent as a sign of unifying the empires.

    Vladimir the Great, who was a grand prince of Kiev, married Anna Porphyrogenita, a Byzantine princess, so they claim that legacy through that marriage. Also, truth be told, thing that HANZO wrote is also correct, and that is a pretext for the Russians to assert their role as leaders amongst the Orthodox. But also, there was a Turkish sultan who was married to another princess, but I can not recall his name. Moscow and especially Saint Petersburg are packed with Roman-influenced architecture.

    Bulgaria, Serbia and Montenegro and Greece ofc also use many Byzantine symbols. So for example, Serbs have a Serbian cross and a double headed eagle (a widely used symbol in Europe representing the union between a church and a state).

    A double-headed eagle is probably of Persian or even Indian origin.
