If Kanye didn't rap on his albums, they would be some of the best albums in hip hop history. Since he's on there and 90% of his verses are about admiring non sexual encounters with superficial women, it's easily the most garbage catalog of all time.

Theres no denying that MBDTF was great, but Kanye has been going downhill from there. That being said, I would love to see more Kanye production and less rapping.

Jays too smart. Every move in his career has been a calculated move. He won't diss Ye for no reason.

No point in a rap battle anyway since Ye would get about 30 people to write his response record for him.

Both those guys are legends in different ways. Jay is one of the smartest guys ever involved with rap and it shows in his music and business. Kanye just makes fascinating and frequently amazing music imo.

haha, ikr? funny that in a lot of people's eyes he'll be remembered that way - when he can't really rap and his lyrics are generally a mess + his production postchipmunk sampling is an ensemble effort, where he acts as more of an 'arranger' than anything else. on 'yeezus' for instance he just compiled stuff from better and more cutting edge producers, mashed it all together and then rapped portentously over the top.

not to mention his abundance of character flaws.

his cultural prominence can't really be disputed though (even though it's bewildering). he's almost solely responsible for rejuvenating adidas for instance and anything he wears becomes instantly hyped.

but i really don't understand the phenomenon and never have.

That Kane guy is probably one of the least interesting people I am vaguely familiar with.
