Default Recommend me a Jay-Z song.

I've never heard a verse from Jay-Z that has made me say, "WOW, now I see why this guy is considered the greatest."

    Recommend me a Jay-Z song.

And don't give me a cop-out answer like, "Nah man, you gotta look at his songs as a collection. His catalog is ridiculous, blah blah.."

Recommend me a great Jay-Z song with a great verse. Come on, I wanna hear it.

After reasonable doubt he became hip hop's most consistent B- student. Still a great rapper. Most of the time his newer verses are good because of context. He addresses current/personal affairs well like on 'Lost Ones'.

Thanks for all the recommendations, fellas. I have heard Reasonable Doubt. Does he other solid albums or is it just that one? People always point to only that album. Do they forget he has 15 other studio albums or are they just not as hot as that first one? He's "the greatest rapper of all time." Every album of his should be FIRE. But they're not.

Several years ago I downloaded every Jay-Z album. I heard them all from start to finish. I ended up skipping 75% of the songs. I honestly don't understand his appeal, why everyone loves him and considers him a rap God. As a person, he seems like a complete dick, hardly ever smiles, and has the charisma of a slug. As a rapper he isn't anything special to me. He is easily "out-shined" on songs and he has never made me say "Holy shit, wow!" the way many other rappers have. Has he ever done that to you? If so, when?

I'm not salty. It's great that so many people enjoy his music. I want to also but I just don't get the hype.

The Black Album is probably my second favorite.

You said you've already listened to his catalog so I'm not gonna tell you what to listen to.

Like you said not everything he made is great but he is Top 5 imo.

Anything on Reasonable Doubt or any song produced by Dj Premier. The rest of his catalogue is not my cup of tea. He would be top 20 in my book, top 5 is a little lofty considering I think most of his shit after 2000 is garbage.

seriously this dude is in peoples 'top' lists????

    bewildering.

yeah he sold shit and whatever and whatnot but even you guys are saying ehhh he aint that good... yet you still place him in the top?

    odd.

not even on my list as a mention. even if my list consisted of a hundred (it doesnt) i still wouldnt put jigga man on it.

Reasonable Doubt is a classic though great album through and through i will say that much.

I said not everything is great like his newer shit. The music he made up until his retirement is dope. Some stuff after that.
