The cadence/rhythm/pulse/delivery/structure of your shit is next level.

I know that's probably not what you wanna hear cos I guess your stuff is mostly about the message. But when I watch or listen to this shit I'm just like busting nuts over the structure and how that shit rolls of the tongue and shit. Your verses are like finely sculpted artworks. Just next level.

I'd pay to go and watch you performing these verses for a small crowd. That's where it'd work best. Like those ones you were doing in a classroom. That shit was fascinating.

    Keep it up, bro.

I really appreciate that brother! How it all sounds is just as important to me as the message I'm putting out there -- and I'm trying to get better all the time. As soon as I finish the comic book short story I'm publishing, I'm going to book a studio to record my spoken word album.

Thanks for listening! If you have any friends you think would like it, I would appreciate you telling them to check out my website!

    Thanks again!

Cool man, I'd def be interested in that spoken word album. Keep us posted on that. Are you gonna do your verses over instrumentals, or just the raw vocal?

after listening to a bunch of his youtube vids id take it he dont want no beatz.

my opinion is this shit would be HARD over some beats. but im not the biggest fan of some of your material, as its too serious for me and i dont relate to it. but to each their own. the words are there and the rhymes are sharp as fuck, i cant hate.

i will say this though, you remind me of Sage Francis to the maxxxxx like theres no way around it.

I used to rap -- and part of me misses writing and recording songs -- but I'm not really dedicated to trying to have a rap career. I actually got my start as a slam poet -- that, and rap has gotten so weird over the last ten or fifteen years, it's next to impossible to gain a following. The sound I was looking for was more of a hardcore punk band with a Hip Hop influence than actual hip hop. I love both, but I'd rather be in a punk band. Those stars haven't lined up, but I'd jump at the chance if they did -- even at 35, haha.

And like Mister Yo said, sociopolitical topics and "the human condition" are acquired tastes -- Hip Hop heads like my energy, my flow, and my rhymes, but half of them don't connect to the lyrics.

What's funny though, is I hated Sage Francis for the first half of his career, haha. I love three out of his last four albums though, so I can see the similarity. I just wish local people would stop comparing me to Eminem, haha!

With that said, my spoken word album would ideally have some instrumentation. I can't guarantee it though. I don't sit around and wait for cats who say they want to work with me. Most artists are lazy as fuck, and I like actually putting my work out there at the highest quality I can afford. I have an art book that comes with a spoken word DVD available on my website. The book serves as an origin story to the comic I'm working on right now.

I remember hearing your tracks when you started rapping, and seeing some footage of you performing with some other rappers too, and I wasn't feeling it anywhere near as much as I do your spoken word clips. Actually I don't think I was into it at all. From what I recall you were working with some pretty nondescript, forgettable dudes.

As far as a straight audio presentation though, I def think it'd be much better to set your pieces to music than just record the bare vocal. I wouldn't go for measured bars and rap to the beat. I'd just lay it over a subtle, dark, moody sort of instrumental. Definitely no grandiose, dramatic shit cos it sounds pretentious as fuck when people do that, haha.

I saw that deal on your website with the book and dvd. It sounded like the dvd was a doco mostly though. Does it have all your spoken word clips on it? Cos I do plan to gather all those together when I get around to it, and I'd be happy to pay for a dvd collection if you've put one together...and if the shipping was reasonable, haha.

Yeah, they're my friends from Queens, NY -- no one local ever really wanted to do anything with me, but I collaborated with and did a lot of shows with them. I think they're both dope lyricists, but none of us really found the sound we were looking for. The kind of Hip Hop we wanted to make was quickly dying out to sugar-coated auto-tune shit. Beef and Kaos were classic, grimy, queens shit, and I wanted to be on some punk-poet-rap shit. We all got better during those years, though. I got a lot out of it.

My DVD is essentially a spoken word album on video. It has like 13-15 poems on it, and interviews about the project, what I hope to accomplish with it, and the philosophies behind my work. I just edited it in a documentary-style. We shot it in 1080i, but 'standard definition' is the only quality I could fit on the disc.

My online store says I only ship in the US, but I can make arrangements to ship it overseas. It's just expensive, usually.
