He's been on the lower tier of my top 10 favorite lyricists but I may have to rethink it because Skyzoo is someone I'm strongly considering to put in my top 10, though Pun won't necessarily be the one I remove, should I do so.
But yes, Pun for me is one of the illest I've ever heard. His multiple syllable rhymes delivered in that rapid fire flow that he could speed up or slow down at the drop of a dime was just uncanny. It's a real shame he never gained control of his health and weight. He was a special talent. Capital Punishment is an incredible album. Tres Leches was one off favorite tracks when he paired up with Deck and Prodigy. Deck at the time was at the top of his game and was doing guest appearances left and right.
One of the greatest eaters
He's dope but he's not in my top ten though.
How the hell did he fit on that scooter in the still not a player video.

Listened to CP today again, he deserves a spot as a GOAT for this album alone.

As a rapper, yes. As an artist, no.

That fact alone has made me always think of him as being grossly overrated like most people you faggots stroke off to. But if I remember I'll listen to his album some thyme and see how I feel about it.
He dropped Yeahh Baby which I remember being pretty good if u ask me.

The thing is when people say best or GOAT then what exactly does the criteria mean? From a technical stand point it doesn't really matter how many albums he put out his ability was one of the best to ever do it but if an overall body of work is included the obviously not, but if that's the criteria then somebody like Nas could be nowhere near the GOAT but is considered to be. It's why these arguments are stupid the terms are too ambiguous and people always shift the goal posts to justify their opinion.

^i agree and think ability is ability. Like fuck a discog. If a dude absolutely murders one album and then dies OK, why not say he was one of the best? But thing is, even ability can be temporary. Like some dudes rip it on their first album or even a later one, but then go to shit. They can't sustain that level.
Like Gza for me at his peak will always be goat, but as a whole there's no fucking way he's the goat.
And from what I recall yeah baby was some shit his wife threw together after he died and it was shit.
I remember I accidentally bought a clean version of dat shit.
lol noel u got screwed for coppin the clean version. I would be upset too. You should give it another spin dirty this time. Peace

Also how many rappers can you name with a flow as sick as Puns? Pharaohe Monch or Kool G Rap maybe...

technical ability on early guest spots and on his first album were amazing
suffered from breathing problems due to morbid obesity later on in his career
first half of his second lp had some good cuts too, some of the songs tacked on at the end were doodoo imo
when it comes to lyrics you can include Don Cartagena (also Jealous Ones Envy maybe?) by Fat Joe too. I'm not too sure about the time line but just going off the lyrics sounds to me like Fat Joe got some serious help on that album
Retired.
