    Smile Moonlight

(I'll keep this short because I don't want to spoil the film) Prior to me viewing this film, I went in the theater completely blind. I didn't watch a trailer, I didn't read a review, or anything of that nature. It was stated that Moonlight is a brilliant film , and you know what, it IS!

From the beginning to the end, the Moonlight is very captivating from the writing, cinematography, the acting, and the music. The actors in this film played their parts extremely well; Barry Jenkins (director) did an outstanding job, and the writing is top notch.

This is an emotional film overall; However, I will state that given the events that some people in the inner city/poor experience in life, the film does an amazing job displaying how messed up life can be for certain individuals who are just trying to live their life from early childhood, the teenage years, and then into adulthood. At the end of the day, you can't help who you are and no one should be punish for it.

I didn't watch any of these movies this year. I never watch awards shows they are as bad as all star games. Just a bunch of rich assholes licking eachothers balls.

I do want to see that new Scorsese movie and that Hell or High Water flick.

As I've stated before, this film touches on a LOT more than homosexuality, it displays how all African-American men don't fit the typical stereotype of being America's super villan; loud, disruptive, extremely aggressive, violent, "no good", and the list of not so good things go on. It's called vulnerability.

    Hahahah correct Hound.

It was a pretty sad movie. Main character was extremely lonely. And it eneded with him still being that lonely little boy

fuck that, i thought it was a good movie.. hardly the best i've seen this year (that goes to "Silence" by Scorsese) but it was a well-crafted, well written movie that made you think on it afterwards. it also had great cinematography, something i always appreciate in movies, there was a recurring scene of Chiron's drugged out mother screaming at him (without the audience hearing her words) and it looked gorgeous.. it's in the trailer too and was one of the things that made me want to watch it:

i liked the three chapter structure, and that we had to fill in a lot of the blanks in between these for ourselves.. still i wouldn't consider it a masterpiece, but a damn good movie nontheless. 4/5
