Default Dame Dash Claims The Notorious B.I.G. Was Planning to Sign to Roc-A-Fella Records

The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay Z were all set to team up at Roc-A-Fella Records, according to Dame Dash. In a new interview with Hip Hop Motivation, Dame claimed that Biggie was planning to leave Bad Boy Records.

“Biggie’s plan was give Puff and them like three more albums then come sign with us, and we was gon’ do The Commission,” Dame says around the 6:30 mark of the video below. “That was what was gonna happen, or at least that’s what was talked about very seriously. I think that’s why he did a double album. He was gonna do a triple album, and he was gonna be out his contract, and then he was gonna come fuck with us.”

The Notorious B.I.G.’s untimely death prevented us from ever seeing if this was true, but his legacy lives on through his music. One of Biggie’s peers, the Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon, recently spoke to XXL about what the late MC meant to the rap game.

“What B.I.G. meant to hip-hop is that he was one of the dudes that came from nothing and turned into something,” says The Chef. “His talent exceeded everything. He knew how to rhyme. He knew how to freestyle. He knew how to make songs. He was clever. Had a lot of metaphorical shit. More importantly, he was representing New York to the fullest.”

Easy to say this now. Dame probably wants his name to be relevant again. Y else would he bring this up now after 20 years, unless we missed something n this has been brought up before. Peace

I agree LOL. I'm not surprised at Notorious Big might've signed with Rocafella since him and Jay-Z were friends. I heard dead rapper Big L was supposed to sign with Rocafella records too. I don't think that would've been a good idea because he should've stayed with Columbia records. Columbia is the record label that he started with when Lifestyles Ov Da Poor And Dangerous album came out. Nas also used to be with Columbia.

Big L got dropped from Columbia. They wasn't really fucking w Hip Hop like that. Columbia was a real old school machine. I'd believe Roc wanted so sign Big L tho, all them cats knew each other for a while. Big L was doing the independent thing at the time.
