This is not the first Teraban release. In the first phase of Napalm/ Warface (before Dom P temporarily retired from the music industry) Teraban had a third member, Chapelz if I'm not mistaken.

On to the current album ...

First off, most of the beats sound very different from those on Dom Pachino's last solo outing 'Digital Warfare'. there were a lot of soulful beats on there (which I liked a lot).

On here we have a more diverse soundscape, with some harder hitting songs and some songs with instrumentation that is not that lush

In this respect the album is more like Bugsy's last (physical) album 'Camouflage Disciple'. (Bugsy released a digital collection later on too called 'The Hidden Murder Files Vol. 1')

A I stated in a different thread in wu chamber this week this album was actually a FAN REQUEST. After 'War Poetry' and 'Camouflage Disciple' were so well received within the Wu / Killarmy / Napalm community, lots of fans asked Dom Pachino and Bugsy Da God to do a collaborative album. So they did. For that fact alone I'm thankful. Cuz I was one of the people who made the request.

This album definitely went through some changes, only we don't know which ones. The album was postponed so more work could be done on it. IIRC the reason that was given was that there were new opportunities to work with more people, which I take to mean more producers (since there is only one guest verse on the album). it's also telling how the first promo single 'dust in ya eyes' (PROD. Jewels Polaar, who produced various tracks for the Teraban members before) was not included on the final version of the album

    link to the track :

    (still up for sale)

also some of you may remember the cover art for the album changed. (you can see the original cover art displayed on the 'dust in ya eyez' song above)

the album was mixed by 4th & Dash Shamash. It was mastered by Dash Shamash.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

anyway on to the song by song review ... it should be noted that the army theme is strong throughout the album - just the way I like it

Since I'm only on my second listen I will mainly focus on the beats. We know Dom & Bugsy flow well. Also as a non native English speaker I need some more time to process some of the lyrics. So it's mostly beat descriptions below.

1/ INTRO / Ring the alarm (PROD. GPscience) 3,5/5

Intro : the album opens with chopper sounds & army talk. Great way to start off the album of course. It gets you in the right mood.Ring the alarm : I was not familiar with this producer before. We get horns and (duh) alarms. The alarms are not obnoxious and only turn up for the chorus. This is a solid opening track. To quote my man Nardwuar 'right off the bat' the chemistry between Dom & Bugsy is on display. These guys really flow well together. Making this album was a no brainer ... There's a Snoop Dogg 'Gin & Juice' reference in the lyrics that I thought was a nice little tribute.

2/ High Octane (Burning Rubber) (PROD. 4th Disciple) 5/5

    The first of three 4th productions. Can't have a Killarmy related release without 4th;

This track has more of a rugged vibe to it with a constantly repeated vocal sample (not the female vocal type sample though) and nice drums. This cut stays true to its title brings a lot of energy and the story telling (crime story) on this one is excellent.

There's a lot of attention to detail on this track with screeching tyre sounds & newsreader reports.

'The Fast & The Furious' get a name drop in this one.

3/ Lyrical doctors (PROD. Falling Down) 4/5

Falling Down has done work with Killarmy before. ('Originators', 'Street Monopoly' and 'Monster' on 'Fear, Love & War'.) He also did a collaborative digital EP with Bugsy Da God called 'The Seven Angels of Death'.

A very soulful short intro to this track and then the real song kicks in with quick horns. Some vocal samples here too. (I always pay attention to this cuz I'm a big fan of vocal samples)

The chorus refers to 'Who shot ya'.

Some fast rapping and nice similes on this one.

The lyrical doctors concept is carried right through to the end with a conversation. You might not like the comparison but the song concept reminded me of Lil Wayne's 'Dr Carter' (on 'The Carter III').

4/War potion (PRD. Dash Shamash) [PROMO SINGLE] 4/5

Dash Shamash is a Spanish producer who provided Dom Pachino with the lush 'Bosnia' on 'Digital Warfare'.

Most of you are already familiar with this song. No need for me to describe it with the vid above. Great track, definitely one of the more soulful outings on here.

I feel like this track would have fit well on Bugsy Da God's 'Camouflage Disciple' too btw.

5/Smell the roses (PROD. Dunnezy) 4/5

Dunnezy produced a lot of tracks on Dom Pachino's 'Gemini Mind' and 'Digital Warfare' and it's good to have him back on here. Dunnezy always brings quality and he doesn't disappoint on this occasion either.

I love the backdrop on this track. The violins bring something different and both Dom & Bugsy flow seamlessly over this track. Definitely ne of my album favorites.

When Dom P said on here 'can't rush perfection' I cracked a smile cuz I appreciate how they took their time to perfect this album (cf. intro to my post)

    6/ Radio INTERLUDE

Good beat gone to waste! As in there's no rapping over it. Too bad. Wish this short interlude would have been a song too. Still an ill interlude though. It is not clear to me who produced this beat.

    7/ Dirty skud missilez (PROD. Fatra's L'Enfware) 4/5

First time I hear a beat by this (I assume from his FB page) French producer.

Dom P's spoken intro got me wildin' out haha. Very dope.

References to Staten Island, Cappa and the Killa Beez give this song some wu flavor. Some guitar strumming here which once again provides us with a different soundscape. I like the diverse beats on this album - yet they are not that different in scale compared to Dom P's 'Gemini Mind'. This Teraban album still sounds very cohesive, whereas on 'Gemini Mind' there were a few great songs that sounded (too?) different from the rest of the album.

    8/ Expert killers (PROD. 4th Disciple) 5/5

More guitars here, very well done. Sounds very different from the previous track though. 4th still brings the heat after all these years.

Danny Glover reference. Can't be a bad thing.

Bugsy spazzes out on this one. Nice rhyming!!

    9/ INTERLUDE (Success)

Sounds like an interview snippet. The point made here is that you can only measure success in the end, when all is said and done. Which means you should strive for the best now and see where you'll end up in the end. Good message imho.

10/ Hip hop don't flatline (PROD. Karnate) 3,5/5

Another producer I had not heard of before. Soulful singing and soft backdrop on here. References to Biggie & Jay-Z. The topic is clear when you read the song title. I like this type of lyrical content, I always find it uplifting. A rags to riches story and an ode to hiphop. Some nice scratches on this track too.

Karnate did a good job on here. I hope he gets to produce more tracks for Napalm in the future.

11/ Projects 2 skyscrapers (PROD. Oskar Mike) 4/5

Oskar Mike previously produced 'Survival One' (ft. Dom P & Trife Diesel) on Bugsy's sophomore effort 'Camouflage Disciple'.

Song about hustling your way to the top. Quite the laidback sounddrop on this one. The chorus makes it sound like this is the title song to the album.

12/ Talk is cheap (PROD. Bronze Nazareth) 5/5

Album highlight! Very wu-esque beat by Bronze on here, to nobody's surprise I guess. Bronze drops an ill violin sample that makes the song sound very intriguing. Meanwhile in the background a woman serenades 'I will hear you say' ... addictive stuff! I really like Mr PR Terrorist's verse on this one! This track could have easily fitted on 'War Poetry' - same producer and same quality level. Headnodder...

Also, Iron Sheik reference for the win!

13/ Assault island (PROD. Dash Shamash) 5/5

First off, that's a dope song title imo. This is the kind of beat that reminds me a lot of Killah Priest's catalogue. Some eerie ish that gets you hyped but also makes you focus on the lyrics. 'Behind The Stained Glass' type stuff. Great job, Dash Shamash. Good overall story telling on this track too and great scene description in the first verse by Bugsy.

Also ... Killarmy trivia : TIL Dom P likes eating fish filet. you always wanted to know about that huh?

14/ Body bags ft. Shakezpeare (PROD. Dash Shamash) 5/5

This is the only feature on the album, which makes the album the exact opposite to 'War Poetry' in this respect. ('War Poetry' had no fewer than 20 guest spots!)

To me this song has the most addictive chorus on the whole album.

Body bag 'em, toe tag 'em
Blow fire in they face, mash dragon
Blow a hole through they soul with the black hand
Hit em with the 30 round clip and pull the mack handle

Shakezpeare handles himself well on this track. He's certainly no embarrassment.

    15/ F*ck politics (PROD. Anthai) 5/5

Anthai, westcoast producer extraordinaire from 71Raw, provided Dom P with 'Porn Music' and 'Saloon Goon' on 'Gemini Mind'. Had I not looked at the producer credits I'd have taken this to be a 4th production. It has that 4th feel to me. And I mean that as a compliment

Slowgrinding beat with some nice bragging raps. Apparently Dom P has troops out in Kenya?

    Badass track!

16/ Puta en ta favela (SKIT)

This is why should dig up the old Spanish course. Some trash talking about hoes. At least the guys seemed to have a lot of fun on this skit lol.

17/ Slangaz (PROD. Dash Shamash) 5/5

This track is flawless really. Wow. Love the simple but effective chorus and Dash Shamash' production once again is on point. Teraban Slangaz!

18/ Under investigation (PROD. Bronze Nazareth) 5/5

Another Bronze banger ... Dom certainly knows what beats to pick from Bronze's catalogue. Some old movie sounding violins provide a menacing backdrop for Teraban to go all out.

At one point Dom replies to some woman's movie dialogue (
'This time you must have really done something terrible!'
    ) saying
    'You damn skippy sugar tits.'
which I thought was hilarious hahaha.

    19/ Dead silence (PROD. 4th Disciple) 5/5

4th is back! Some nice scratching on this track, which is always a nice bonus. Some keys buried in the mix which provide a nice little detail. This album just keeps the energy up till the very end.

    20/ The N (OUTRO)

    Short little spoken outro.

This post has been edited a few times. Now by the end of the review I've listened to the album 4 times and to me it's a 4 out of 5 right now. Very satisfying album. These guys delivered on their promise.
