    Default Combining LOYALTY w. SELLING MY SOUL

    As i mentioned in the album thread i believe that Masta Killa couldve dropped a monstrous album worthy of the legacy of NSD and MiB. From what i understand much of both were recorded around the same time. Besides a few real bangers Soul was a disapointment. How would you combine them?

    ^^good idea

    am pleasantly hung over in the morning after a night of popping gooood ass bottles with a Swiss friend who flew in for the weekend

    I gotta say Selling My Soul is sounding pretty chill and agreeable right now as I'm lazily recovering on the sofa

    I was never big on that album but NO complaints at all about it today

    ^^ I like that tracklist!

    Mine is a bit longer (too long?)

    1. INTRO : RZA's skit (off RIL)
    2. Tiger and the mantis
    3. Therapy
    4. SKIT : army dialogue (intro off SMS)
    5. Return of the Masta Kill
    6. Food
    7. Noodles, pt 1
    8. Loyalty is royalty
    9. OGs told me
    10. MK's single verse over the True Master (?) beat
    11. Things just ain't the same
    12. SKIT : those kids in the kung fu dialogue (off SMS)
    13. Trouble
    14. Down with me
    15. Real people
    16. Noodles, pt 2
    17. Soul and substance
    18. All natural
    19. R U listening
    20. SHORT CHINESE INSTRUMENTAL (intro off RIL)
    21. ELDERLY MAN SPOKEN WORD ABOUT WISDOM OUTRO (outro off SMS)

    lol I spent well over an hour putting this together

    I tried to put most of the hard hitting songs with the wu features early on the album. sprinkled some shaolin vibes in there with an intro, skit, instrumental and outro. grouped some of the SMS album's softer songs towards the end of the album. I wanted to have R U Listening at the back end of the album cuz I always associate that beat with the Wu Block album instead of the MK release, and I don't want it to interrupt the flow of the MK comp too much

    also I wanted to have the army skit (intro to SMS) in there too cuz it gives me a Killarmy vibe (big fan of Killarmy). I think it functions well here as track 4, introducing the Masta Killa persona for the track 'Return of the Masta Kill'

    if I had to make it a bit shorter I would take out All Natural and R U Listening

    peace

    btw to me there's 5 songs on the album that are a really worthwile addition to the wu catalogue

    * Tiger and the mantis

    * Noodles pt 1

    * Therapy (which has grown on me a lot, I was underwhelmed when I first heard it)

    * OGs told me

    * MK's verse over the True Master (?) beat

    btw this is how I normally listen to Selling My Soul (this morning was the full album tho)

    1. Skit (army)
    2. Soul and substance
    3. Things just ain't the same
    4. R U listening
    5. Skit (kung fu school kids)
    6. Food
    7. All natural
    8. SKIT (wisdom)

    More of an EP. The original album feels like a bunch of leftovers with all the clutter. This short version is lean and soulful.
