He tapped into the introspective vein without being self indulgent; the songs are universal and meditational. His production work here also works really well, although in general I don't think hes a great producer.
He had a great mixtape run and it seemed like he couldn't fail but his first 2 LPs were really forgettable, with this one I might go as far as saying its classic.
Yeah I agree. His first two albums turned me off. Didn't give this one a chance. I can hear GKMC as an influence on Forrest Hill Drive. Not a bad thing though. Though Cole is more consistently personal
