    very much appreciated, noel!

and, yeah, Mister Yo is actually the one who innitially told me about this forum, haha. i posted here a couple times after releasing my last record, Scatterbrainstorm. however, at that time, i was also bouncing around to a few different forums trying to promote it.

i always thought the community here was cool, though. aside from a couple track/album posts, i remember interacting on a few 'freestyle' type threads in the Temple of Darts section... though, unfortunately, i didn't post much.

again, though--as far as Doomed Divide is concerned--i hope you like what you hear, man! but, either way, i appreciate the listen (and any and all feedback you may have to offer).

    peace.

Cool bro. Didn't end up dl'ing the new joint this morn cos it turned out I'd left my modem at work for the first thyme ever. Dl'ing now. Was gonna ask if I can grab it for free somehow but thought fuck it and threw you $5, lolz. That's like the second thyme I've payed for a hip hop release in the last few years, so consider it a privilege, haha.

But as far as Scatterbrainstorm, that shit was dope as fuck. Like yeah man, your shit is as tight as and honestly tighter than most signed artists' shit. Like I hate to sound all arse kissy, but I'm just repeating shit I've said to Mister Yo before, and I've even mentioned you in threads on here, just sound creepy now that I'm addressing the man himself, but you should be signed, dude. You put most signed rappers to shame. The way you fire off triplets and sixteenths and whatever the fuck amount of syllables you smoothly cram into a quarter note, is seriously impressive. And there's not many rappers out there who really do anything genuinely impressive. You fucking murdered that track on Club Canibus too. Like yeah dude, genuinely impressed the fuck out of me with that shit. Just tight and smooth as fuck. I don't know how you do it.

Anyway, enough of that. Would be cool to see you around the forum a bit. Look forward to giving the new joint a spin tomorrow.

wow, man, i really appreciate that!

personally, i don't like forcing people to pay for digital music, which is why i chose the 'pay-what-you-want' bandcamp option -- most people just enter 0 as the dollar amount and get the album that way, haha, but i truly appreciate the donation!

physical copies are currently being made, and will be available through that same bandcamp page once they're ready. they'll also be available on CDBaby and i think Amazon might have a couple, too.

but, yeah, i'm truly humbled by everything you said here. rapping has always been something i love to do, but i honestly never even tried to get signed. i also refuse to pay for promotion, haha, so i think that's another factor as to why i have such a small following after all these years. but... word of mouth? tell your friends to tell their friends to tell their friends, haha.

thanks again, though -- i'm very much looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the record!

    peace.

Oh shit I tried doing $0 at first and I think it told me I had to pay a minimum $1. I figured if I was gonna pay I might as well pay $5 instead of $1, haha.

Feeling you on the promo shit too. I give my albums to the 5 people I know who are actually interested, and other than that it's post a few tracks here which nobody listens to, lolz.

Anyway, I listened to the album this morning, and it sounded pretty dope, but obviously can't really say anything conclusive yet. I'll have to give it more listens. But I did want to offer my one big criticism I have of your stuff. And this comes from having now heard 3 of your albums...Your song structure is just far too predictable and unadventurous to really keep me interested. Like every song is verse, chorus, verse, chorus etc. And I mean you're good at it. You're really good at it. You've mastered that form of song...so do something different!!! Haha. Like I mean it's a pleasure to hear you flow, and it's a big highlight for me listening to your verses on Club Canibus, but that predictable song structure is what keeps me from coming back for repeat listens of your albums with any great enthusiasm. Like really, dude, I'd be excited to grab one of your albums and have no idea what I might be about to hear, haha. That's what keeps me interested.

But yeah, still look forward to having more listens to the new joint. Just nowhere near as much as I would if it was less predictable, haha. Maybe something to think about.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh y'all are soooooo cute lolz.

    haahahha.

nah. this tape is where its at. if you can understand the vision/concept of the tape you will get it and appreciate it.

i agree with noel about the hooks but everyone should understand Mister Yo by now and im like not a fan of hooks period. but i get it if thats whats given.

i will say ALL these hooks are better than the hooks on The Saga Continues hahaha.

i do prefer your latest release, Scatterbrainstorm, over this but the first two tracks on Doomed Divide are a great introduction to Quidone as an artist. i would love to hear more of that shit.

    thanks for the feedback, guys!

and, noel, i hear you on the predictability of verse/chorus/verse/chorus, etc. but having similar structures throughout was actually part of my plan for this one. i wanted everything on this album to sort of follow a pattern/be almost 'cyclic' in nature as that was one of the main motifs i was toying with for it. and time being another recurring theme, i tried to put a lot of ideas into a small amount of time (12 relatively short tracks; four minutes being the longest one). and trying to have some bigger, more memorable choruses on this one was another goal--not necessarily simpler than my previous work--but i guess just easier to remember/repeat on other people's behalf, haha. my first couple records don't have much structure at all, though. if you haven't heard Slanted Sidewalks or Plagues, they're free to download from the same bandcamp page and might be a bit more the style you're hoping for.

and, as my original post implies, i'm open to any and all feedback, Mr. Cock (haha). for real, though -- if you like it, hate it, feel indifferent about it, let me know. i appreciate anyone taking the time.

Lolz the brock review troll is actually funny once u realise it's a recycled joke. But yeah, a bit uncouth pulling it on someone who hardly posts here, haha.

As for quid's post, feeling ya, bro. That's all fair enough. You're def great with the choruses. Plus u've got solid peeps backing u up. Male/female singers n all. Solid. Still enjoying the album n will drop more thoughts on it after more listens.

One thing I did wanna ask is does Tom bomb fux wit' real instruments? There's some nice acoustic guitar on this joint n some of the drums sound real too. Wondered if he plays any of that himself or just samples real instruments?

haha, well i guess it wouldn't be a proper forum if it didn't have a troll or two -- thanks for the heads up, though.

and, noel, nearly everything you hear on this album musically is sample-based. however, there were some added elements on a couple tracks:

-the synth parts on both Tumbleweed & Cycle were played by Jack Rylands (who also sings the chorus vocals/harmonies with me on those tracks)
-the bass guitar on Time Left was played by Dave Nelson (who also sings the chorus vocals/harmonies on that one)
-and the bass on the last track, In The Way, was played by Jack Rylands

and, yeah, man, if/when you get around to checking out my earlier stuff, you'll find out most of it was just a really long verse with a slight chorus that occasionally repeated at the end, haha. and some of that can still be found on As Luck Would Have It and Scatterbrainstorm, but admittedly most of my more recent stuff is structured in the 'standard' rap (16 bar verse/8 bar chorus) structure.

Cool man. I'll have to listen out for that bass guitar. Recently started playing bass myself. Tom Bomb has a nice sound. Very crisp kind of finish on his beats.

Still digesting the album and enjoying it. Followed on with Scatterbrainstorm after today's listen. Dope shit. Will get around to posting some more specific observations eventually. Also will peep those earlier albums.
