Yeah for me it was the last classic. Nothing else I've heard would come close to being classic. Not that I can think of anyway. But yeah, doesn't mean there haven't been plenty of others that r n probably should b widely considered classic. Keeping in mind also that I pretty much stopped checking for new shit only a few years later.

Also his adult swim album is fantastic and maybe more accessible to non-doom fans than his others.
his flow makes him sound less talented than he is though. i personally think he's a great MC. watching Mos Def recite the lyrics to Doom's 'Beef Rap' song on youtube makes the lyrics sound way more skilled
I think he was a better rapper as Zev. Not that he was great. Just had that standard sort of old school flow down pretty well. Kept the lyrics simple and entertaining. But yeah, dude makes good and highly listenable music regardless of his ability as an mc. I think he was probably putting out the best albums in hip hop during his peak.

I will agree with the few on here who find mf doom to be overrated as funk. I liked him better back with KMD. Dangerdoom, operation doomsday were dope. I don’t get the classic hype that madvillainy gets. It’s a solid 8/10, but not a classic. I find Madlib to be boring as fuck behind the boards. He is another that gets constant goat producer hype, but I find a lot of producers way way better. Doom is like an underground hero to most, and I like him, but there is nothing as an mc that makes him standout. His beats are solid too.
