I remember buying this at the mall. NRM i think. This was back in the days when you didn't even really know when shit was dropping because the internet wasn't like it is today. I remember just stumbling upon this at the store. I picked this up because of hearing Killah Priest on Diary of a Madman and 4th Chamber. Until this album, I didn't realize that was him on B.I.B.L.E. on Liquid Swords.

Source ads was my way to know release dates in that era. Specifically remember this one actually. Peace

I remember finding out about The Swarm CD from a Circuit City ad in the Sunday paper. Even then, I thought The Swarm was a group. I didn’t realize it was a compilation album.

yeah I didnt realize Wu Chronicles was a compilation album when I bought it too until quite a while later, that was pretty early when i first started picking up anything with the W on it. the vibe of that album if every track is brand new to you was crazy though

All thyme top 10 hip hop album and the best Wu affiliate album, imo. Actually other than Cuban Linx, Liquid Swords, Ironman, and Death Certificate, I think this is the best hip hop solo album ever.

I didn’t listen to Biggie a whole lot back in the day. I was a hater. So when Wu-Chronicles came out, I thought The What? was an unreleased track. I had no idea that this was on Ready To Die.

Hadn't heard these before. Just checked them out on YouTube. Definitely would've been solid additions. Where would everyone sequence these in on the already classic album?

HM is pure classic. It grew on me over the years so much. Wisdom and if you don’t know were ok tracks for me in 1998. In 2018 they are absolut classic and 2 of my favourites beats EVER.

But i still think the album contains some fillers. It would have been better without 3 or 4 tracks. And street opera is classic. Too bad it wasn’t include in the project.

Priest did an in depth track by track breakdown of Heavy Mental a good few years ago. I think it was for Hiphopgame.com. I can’t find the original link but here’s the full breakdown here...

Some dope stories and information in there about how the album was made.

    Peace!

I listened to this shit yesterday for the first thyme in many years and crazy thing is it's actually even better than I remembered it to b, n I've always considered it to b an all thyme Top 10 hip hop record. Def one of the very best hip hop albums ever, lyrically. Actually worth paying attention to the lyrics. That's extremely rare.

I've been listening to a few hip hop albums from more recent years over the last year or so, and I actually think most of em r quite good, but listening to something like this really puts shit in perspective. Just a whole other World. No comparison whatsoever.

Lolz @ people who actually think stuff like Illmatic n whatever Compare to this in terms of quality. Yeah, just lolz.

I remember encountering this when I was like 12 yrs old... fell in love with the grimy beats and flows, took a few years before I captured what he was actually saying...

much like the rhymes of Rza, Gza, Ghost, etc, the shit Priest was saying on this album changed my worldview, inspired me to research stuff to figure out what he meant..

20 years later I still catch new stuff or I learn something that explains what Priest was referring to...

example: on "If You Don't Know" (my favorite True Master beat ever) Priest says "I saw Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, and George Bush/ barefoot sucking from the titties of a wolf" .... when I later learned the story of Romulus & Remus, the founders of Rome, who were abandoned as babies and suckled by a she-wolf, the USA as modern Rome theme shined thru..

one other thing I need to say ---- with Heavy Mental, Priest immediately became one of my favorite emcees, IMO one of the best ever. Nobody is fucking with "Almost There" or "It's Over" or "Heavy Mental" let alone "BIBLE" or "One Step". While he arguably strayed a bit with his next few records, I think he's reached a new height in the last 10 years or so. I listen to PWOWR and Planet of the Gods constantly. He's reached a new level now, evolved into "Modern Tech Priest" as he says...

I'm just saying: DON'T SLEEP on his new shit

Hands down my most favorite affiliation album ever. Antonelli, which ones were fillers for you?

I don’t like blessed are those. The beat is boring.

The professional seems off topic. It would have been better in the middle of the album.

I don’t feel the atoms to adam beat. The beat for mystic city is meh.

    Every others tracks are classic.
