Need Computer/Tech Help

So I just got back from a 3 week roadtrip. Before I left I was sorting out a whole lot of micro SD cards, transferring files and shit, and then out of nowhere my laptop's SD Card drive became read only. It was an absolute fucking nightmare, and I wasted a lot of thyme on youtube and google looking for a solution, but I couldn't find anything for my specific problem.

So my portable music device also uses micro SD cards, and just now I tried to add some new files to one of the cards, and was promptly reminded I had this unresolved cunt of a problem. I need to resolve this asap. It completely fucks me up. I'm always making new music and shit, and I NEED to be able to put it on my micro SD cards to keep up to date with what I'm doing. Not to mention needing to be able to add any music I DL.

Anybody know what I need to do? It's just the drive as a whole. It's become read only. Doesn't matter what card I use. What adapter. It happened completely out of nowhere. I never went near any settings or anything. It all of a sudden just stopped writing and became read only.

I was gonna try to do this reinstalling or updating the drivers shit, but I don't even know where to find the specific drivers or how to update or replace them. Probably doesn't help that I don't even know what drivers actually are. I went to the page for windows 8.1 drivers, and I couldn't find what I supposed I need.

Yeah the properties say 'read only' since it went that way, but u can't change. When it happened I went thru all that kind of shit. Looking at settings for it n shit. Couldn't rectify it that way.

Since you have to put the micro SD card into its adapter before inserting into the slot reader, check the side of the adapter for a tiny switch or tab. If there is one, it might be set to lock/read only.

^lolz, thanks, but I'm not that fuc'n useless. None of my adapters were ever locked.

Although the first thyme I got the bullshit 'write protected' message I tried a different adapter (even though the one I was using wasn't and never had been locked, and had been working previously), and it actually worked. But eventually I started getting that message regardless of the adapter. Even brand new Kingston ones. It's just the actual SD card drive that's the problem.

I'm gonna try a suggestion Mister Yo made to me, and get an external micro SD adapter (it hadn't occurred to me that yes, of course such a thing exists). If that doesn't work then it must be a problem with my whole fucking shitheap laptop.
