Nice interview! 4 months old too, lol.
Nice Interview good info and now I know why he doesn't bother to put out proper albums anymore. Hope he drops the documentary.
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.
^ La prefers management over being an artist even before he blew up. He said he was so busy with his companies (Affiliates) that he completely forgot he even came up as a rapper. He went to college for business management and accounting before being an MC.
but yeah nice interview there, La is one of the most down to earth people out there
Dope. I love it that he took the time to get college educated. Instead off glorifying being leaned out all the time, these new age rappers should be stressing higher learning to these young ones. If I had the funds to do so, I would go to college for the rest of my life. You can never attain too many degrees.

This. Plus unlike most rappers who come into the game broke, LA was already getting money at the time. He already had $100k in the safe when he was in college so he wasn't eager to just take a deal. He states wu tang offered him a deal initially but he passed on it. Which was smart because most of the Killa Beez ain't get paid for shit. He got a $550k from Atlantic but never dropped the lp there because he wasn't satisfied with the label direction. Rza talked it out with Atlantic and then he did the deal with the distro company Navarre who gave him $750k and he was getting $7 an album at the time. He says they sold over 375k copies = 2 Mill. And that was a lot of money back then. He had more money than most of the clan probably lol. (Except RZA) So basically he didn't have to keep rapping and making albums.

Didn't he said that the album did generate 20 mil? anyhow crazy numbers, but anything with a Wu logo on the cover sold gold or platinum back then and he put a big ass Wu logo on the cover also, lol.
Btw, was'nt LA supposed to release an follow-up album titled Darkman II?
Yes. That album is finished. It is just up to La himself to put it out
