BTS suffers from a complete lack of samples. Most songs are synthed the f out which i dont mind really. While songs like stringplay play way better nowadays, i could not for the life of me get into it when it dropped.

Some very dope songs on there but it just doesnt stack well versus other albums.

Which songs do you consoder real classics?

My fav joints are: 1112, beneath tye surface, mic trippin, amplified sample, crash your crew and publicity... but lets be real. Are any of those songs really touching the best of LS? Not quite imo.

BTS is like a 7 to LS’ 10. Even if its outside the top ten its still well recieved imo. Its just middle of the run when it comes to best wu albums. But that can happen in a ten men group where 5/10 released acclaimed classics.

The skits on BTS were dreadful. And I had the cassette back then so more difficult to skip. Ha. Agreed on it being around 7.5 range. Guests really came through in it. Masta Killa and Hell Razah had some stand out verses. Peace

i played the hell out of BTS when it came out, I don't think it aged as well as the other solos
It might be the most lyrical album from any Wu member though, for that reason alone its worth revisiting

Of course bts has nothing on ls, but sc has nothing on ironman either, imo. Just like nothing else any of them have done has anything on ls, cl, and ironman.

And yeah, the skits define the expression 'waste of space'.

But I think pretty much every song on the album is great. Only victim I don't really like. The chorus is awful, and his flow is kinda shit in that one too. The rest of the album is great tho.

I listened to boap yesterday too. It's pretty decent, but we pop, drink smoke fuck, the drop off, and wherever I go r fucking awful. I hadn't heard the album in prob over 10 years, but those 4 songs I prob hadn't heard since the first week the album dropped. I forced myself to listen to the whole thing, lolz. That hoodrat shit after we pop, I had absolutely no recollection of that even existing. I was like wtf is this when it started playing.

“We Pop” and “Drink, Smoke n F” are simply embarrassing. Not much else I can say. I defend RZA on most things but sad he never released a proper RZA album. Peace

Yeah I don't mind him trying to do commercial songs, like I love la rhumba and even domestic violence 2 I guess is kinda commercial sounding, and I really like it. But we pop and drink smoke fuck r just absolutely fucking awful. Absolutely nothing positive can b said about either track.

Nothing wrong with Wu Tang doing commercial songs if they are done in the proper way that suits them. Keep it gutter and simple enough for the masses simultaneously like All I Need (Razor Sharp Mix), Ice Cream and Cherchez La Ghost.

Ok but besides those songs most of the album is incredible imo

    See the joy
    The birth
A day to god is 1000 years
    Cherry range
    Koto chotan
    Grits

To me those joints are 5/5. Love the beats and overall songs

On top of that we get

Fast cars - a traditional true master banger. Not incredible like when we first heard true but id say its a 4/4.5

Chi Kung - a dope nodder of a song. Rza using a slow raspy voice style. Traditional rza shit imo. Love the hook. Shaboobaloop. End it by you know who and its good. Unique joint. 4/5

The whistle - one of rzas doper experiments. Love the beat. Dope masta killa feature. 4/5

The grunge. A RAW track thatd work on any other wutang album. 4.5/5 borderline 5/5. Old school hip hop breaks. Yea man. Dope

The drop off - i love this shit. One of the only songs these guys ever made i really love. Ept that shit wit dana dane.

I actually like we pop but yea any album that has 10 or more 4 or better joints i consider a good album. Illmatic rule. Rest of songs not named are either mediocre or eh but theres like 12 joints here that are really good imo and make a real full rza album. And if ya a real rza fan i could see it being seen as classic.

Imo both this album and ghostdog are super underrated by fans, from wu fans to regular hip hop. Rza was peaking production wise and noone gave a fuck.

Rza was doing rza even on digi bullet too. Another underrated album. Prolly 7.5/10 but another one with A buncha 5/5 joints and some very wack ones in thatbseem to get more attention.

^me too. Easily. It's actually the only one I listen to. In stereo isn't as accessible.

Out of that whole end run on boap I actually only really like a day to God. The rest don't do it for me. The other highlights on that album for me r fast cars, the grunge, whistle, and also Bob n I, grits, Chi Kung n you'll never know r good.

I also agree with Digital Bullet. In fact my 3 favorite Rza projects, aside from group albums and the first round of solos, are:

    Digital Bullet
    The World According To Rza
    Ghost Dog OST

He keeps going on with the persona idea as bobby digital as Prince Rakeem. Who not as Bobby steels, better than bobby digital I bet. Where Is "RZA" only album at?

Also after Gza Liquid Swords is got to be GRANDMASTERS.
