I agree theres been plenty of great Hip Hop in the last few years. Even more than that list. This is actually not what we're talking about though.

We're talking about mainstream 'Hip Hop' or Trap which I think has reached a point where its so distinct that it should be considered a separate genre. This has happened to lots of genres over the years. Jazz bred numerous styles, Rock gave birth to Metal etc. Thats why I think getting mad at the new artists for not keeping it real or whatever people are saying is dumb. These artists don't have the same goals or reference points or musical sound as older artists. Its like when Punk came out and Rock artists said these guys can't play, have no skill. But actually Punks artistic goal had nothing to do with the old guard so those people were just telegraphing how old and out of touch they were.

Funnily enough I flicked over later n there was a white duo of mindless robot clones rapping about some cliche American shit or something, n this thyme hidden among the fake American accents I did catch brief glimpses of something close to an Aussie accent, so I think these fags actually were Aussie.

How people like that can make money in the music industry very much saddens n depresses me.

hip hop, having started in the US, is now fucking GLOBAL. like its huge. mainstream K-Pop and J-Pop don't make a single track nowadays without having a little hint of rap and if not a little hint they are having full verses that are straight up hip hop.

Rap is mainstream. like Sha said all billboard is is "rap" nowadays. you either look elsewhere for your rap fix or enjoy the new genres being created. and in case any one was wondering i do both.
