Default La The Darkman - Heist of the Century - 20th Anniversary Thread

In November 17, 1998 Lason Jackson a.k.a. La The Darkman released his now classic debut album "Heist of the Century" independently on the label Supreme Team Entertainment. "Heist of the Century" was featured by Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Masta Killa, U-God, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Killa Sin, Shotti Screwface, Tekitha, 12'O Clock and Maia Campbell. The album was mainly produced by Carlos "Six July" Broady, a member of Puff Daddy's Hitmen production team. Remaining cuts were produced by The RZA, 4th Disciple, Havoc and DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill.

Darkman was 18 years old when this masterpiece was released and it has sold around 350.000 album units. La was getting $7 an album back then.

"Heist of the Century 2" is set to be released on Black Friday 2018 (November 23rd).

Whatever happened to Shotti Screwface? That appearance on Heist Of The Century is all I have ever heard from him.

Most def a classic. La is still young, so part two ain’t too late. Let’s hope it will respark his career as a rapper. Personally I always held him up amongst the greatest.

I have the CD and the Vinyl, one of my favorite albums to pop in and just let it play.
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.

I unfortunately only have it on cassette. Think the CD is highly priced now. Peace

That car does not look like it'll play cassette tapes.

I remember paying a fair amount for the cd. Like 38 bucks.
Got rid of it with the rest of my CDs.
