Business-wise it made sense why he wanted to keep them singed under Wu-Tang Productions. Everytime someone released an album, Wu-Tang Productions got a certain percentage back from each album, which meant every member got compensated. When they released the original 5 solos, the members who didnt have a solo album out yet (Deck, U-God, Killa) still got paid from that. So they were all good. But i guess each one wanted his full share, specially when Wu was no longer selling records how they used to (around the time of the sophomore albums and the bebuts of Deck and Ugod’s albums).

i think the tipping factor was fame. they had no idea how to handle it post Wu-Tang Forever. They all wanted to be their own celebrity (maybe not INS and MK, but still). I sometimes forget how big they really were until I saw Rae laying in a Japanese hotel in a bath robe being interviewed by someone who barely spoke English lmao.
UGod just straight up said how upset/ jealous he got for not becoming a star and RZA not making him a classic album

I’m rewatching this and forgot it was ghost that single handedly got Wu Tang banned from all radio, then he didn’t want to continue the rage tour, then he went to his trip to Africa the same year, which makes his trip make sense now (kinda like Chappelle) He’s basically solely responsible for costing Wu tens of millions and setting off the decline of the Wu after Wu-Tang Forever

He never said he was “jealous due to RZA never making him a star”. If you notice, U-God said “DAMN RIGHT I WAS FUCKING MAD” but not because he was jealous of not becoming a star. He said that in response to waht Divine said about some memebers who already made it big with their albums (assuming he’s talking about Meth, ODB, GZA, Rae and Ghost) not wanting to pitch in when it came time to helping their brothers (assuming he was talking about Deck, U-God and Masta Killa) make their albums. Soon as Divine said that, the next scene cuts out into U-God saying “Damn Right I was fucking mad”. And in a way, I can understand where he is coming from. The Clan put 100% effort into making those first five solos but after Wu-Tang Forever, Deck, U-God and Masta Killa were left to fend for themselves in a way. RZA was now focusing on KillArmy, Black Knights and other Killa Beez when he should have fully produced Deck’s, U-God’s and Masta Killa’s albums.

They probably should have listened to him and bought up mid-rise apartment buildings, row houses, and Staten starter-home properties before NYC experienced the massive wave of gentrification starting pre-2010. Wu-Tang Property MGMT could have been another LLC - with almost exponential ROI until things slow down years from now.

The reality is highly organized Hasidic Jewish families and enclaves bought out all the best real estate & brown stones in every borough. You can't knock them for that. That's cut throat generational planning and self-taught business acumen at it's core. No one likes whiners, just winners.

Kinda funny RZA goes back and forth on whether he wants the album or doesn't regret selling it lol

Still, top documentary, loved Part 1 especially with how everyone speaks about each other and their origins.

Def a doc you'd see a lot for repeats.

That little dude is a snake piece of shit and knew exactly who RZA was. He was his manager, not lawyer.

Also he thought rza was alot taller. What??

Anyway MK seems fine with all this not making an album in that era. "No Said Date" was the last solo wu album with all the members even with u-gods small part.

    Deck was unfortunate.
I don't know what to say on U-God's part.
Do you think they would have had room between 94'-97' to release that many wu solo albums?

And no mention of killarmy or sunz of man about the wu-tang productions.

I also thought odb got them band from radio from saying something like that on the radio, but it was ghost live on stage and the crowd repeated what he said. Hot 97 thought NOOO you guys are DONE!
