I think the whole 'Chinese is teken ovr africa' trope is really ironic. China doesn't have half the level of penetration into Africa that it does on the US. The idea that China is taking over africa because it's building roads and schools and issuing debt, but it's casually competing with the US by building every single drop of consumer good, everything Americans use to build schools and roads (if they build them and they don't), and issuing/buying US debt, currency, and politicians at an unrivaled rate. I get that everyone is programmed to think a certain way about certain issues but if anyone doesn't think the US is a colony for anyone with $100,000 then good luck.
