40C in France today. Tour de France is happening right now ... Today was a flat stage - it was still an oven out there, with these guys going well over 40k an hour - but ... the riders are going back into the mountains (Alps) in 2 d
ays, with temperatures still on the rise (as you said) These guys always start around noon (because of tv coverage), when the temperatures are highest.
So this weekend these guys are facing 113F ...
Today one of the top riders (number 3 in GC) requested an earlier start for the next few days but it's probably not gonna happen. Riders who aren't strong in the mountains have asked for leniency with the time limit. (Riders have to finish x% time after the winner or they have to leave the race.) Shortened stages have also been requested but this is mostly exclusively granted when there's unexpected heavy snowfall during mountain stages (typical for the Giro d'Italia, not so much the TdF), so opposite circumstances to what we have here. ASO (organization behind TdF) is very reluctant to shorten stages at any rates because cities pay hefty amounts to be chosen as start / end places of stages
the top rider who asked for an earlier start is the same guy who lost his GC leader spot in the Giro d'Italia in 2016 after riding into what can only be described as a monumental wall of snow while cycling downhill. sheesh.

Winters are only a quarter of the year though lol. Overall the years are hotter.
No we got a lot of rain and I always use non burning MILORGANITE.
Plus if you mow cool season grass tall (3-4”) and establish a deep root system your lawn will be more drought and heat tolerant.

It must be pretty bad in northern Europe unless they don’t really get true summers over there?
We had a 4 day 90 stretch with indexes around 100 but since then it’s been comfortably around 80 with low humidity.
