    ^that's insane.

Yeah the further you dig the more you see that Dre hasn't produced shit since 1991.

Why are y’all surprised? Half of Wu tang’s catalogue was probably produced by the Wu elements?

Evidence - dude put out 3 brilliant albums and a very solid EP. He's slick with the word play and has only improved over the years. Also he's severely underrated as a producer. Recently Brother Al put out an album fully produced by Evidence which is a dope album.

Shitting On The World is the dopest song on Doctor Dre Presents The Aftermath besides East Coast, West Coast Killas, that should have been the third single.

Doctor Dre is from the Puff and Irv Gotti institution of producing where after everybody else is finished producing a track, you listen to it, approve it or disapprove it and get the credit. The only thing Dre does is the drum programming. Puff has said himself he does not know how to use a beat machine. Eminem learned directly from Dre and does the same thing, has a bunch of people produce something, listen to it when it is done, approve it or disapprove it and get the main credit when he really only did the drum programming

I don't think this is accurate. I was making a similar argument about Kanye recently - some producers are not just beatmakers (even if they sometimes do actually make beats), they are producers in the true sense of the word. They visualize a concept or a sound and work closely with other musicians to bring it to life. Maybe musical directors sounds more accurate, those kinds of producers actually lead their collaborators in the right direction.

You can say Dre etc had a lot of help, and thats true but especially with Dre, he'd have Storch on keys and Elizondo on bass or guitar or whoever else, himself on the drums, then pick out the dope shit for a beat. Its not much different to what sample based producers do. You want to give Sam Sneed, Mel-Man etc the credit but those guys haven't done jack shit of note by themselves.

Puff is more of an album producer, he knows how to make a narrative, bring talented people in, how to balance a tracklist with big hit songs and darker tracks. Plus all those old bad boy beats that that jacked old 70s/80s hits were his idea, even if he got Stevie J to hook them up.

Its too simplistic to just say those guys come in and take the credit, especially when they all have a unique sound that none of their production collaborators are able to achieve on their own.

For real I never noticed either. All them garbage beats Cappa and other Wu Members rhymed over and they were around a dude like Sam and never got one beat from him...smh Sam Sneed produced most of K-Solo's 2nd Album Time's Up which really had a better sound than his debut.
    Yo!
