RIP Olivia de Havilland (104), actress in 'Gone with the wind', 'To each his own' and 'The heiress'. An Oscar each for the last two mentioned. She died in her sleep at her place in Paris.

Unsurprisingly she holds the record for longest living Oscar winning actress.

director Alan Parker died at age 76

he directed and / or wrote movies like Fame, Birdy, Midnight Express, Angela's Ashes, Bugsy Malone, The Commitments, Evita and Mississippi Burning

my favorite movie of his is actually Angel Heart (1987) with its brooding New Orleans setting and film noir esthetic and feel. I remember when I saw it on TV I was impressed with Mickey Rourke's acting. Rourke can be VERY hit or miss, but he was good in this one. maybe he elevated his game for the all star cast he was performing with. what I remember most about the movie were the voodoo elements. I was still young when I saw the movie and I think it was the first time I heard anything about voodoo

I was surprised to see in the article below Parker's movies had garnered a total of 10 Oscars. I guess Evita (never seen it) counted for some of those, I did not check.
