Album is out. It's very good. I could do without Jay-Z pretending to be spiritual on every song, but as far as beats and rhymes go it's a really inspired, well crafted project.

^^
whats that have to do with anything>?
i just think this guy is a bum.
im give this a listen. already though right off the rip, who lets the first verse of HIS own album be a feature?
like i said this guy is a bum. ill report back later
...
def not bad. Jigga actually.... does a good fucking job. he shows a shit ton of versatility. talking/singing on tracks, switching up the subject matter. i think hov may take the cake on this.
jay elec bores me throughout this, more of the exact same. but i guess thats what the people wanted, i wouldnt be surprised if he re used verses on this tape.
is that The Dream i hear on Ezekilis Wheel? dude is a monster with the hooks, Kanye used to use him a lot, that track was a breath of fresh air atmosphere wise.
this is like Watch the Throne.
yeah i mean. ill give this a couple more listens. i dont like jay elec and im not the biggest jay z fan but through and through this aint a bad listen in the slightest.
if i were a jay elec fan. id be pissed.
lmao!
thats like me wanting an Aesop Rock album and having to listen to Homeboy Sandman too. which they did with the head lice ep's.
so rough break down.
you got 10 tracks on here
1 is an intro with no verses.
10 is mostly jay and an outro, tiny jay elec verse/whatever.
so you got 7 tracks with about 2 minutes of verse a piece by jay elec as the beats play out a lot on this tape, which is fine. and a 1:30 second featureless verse.
a "debut album" with... roughly, give or take, 20 minutes worth of verse from jay elec.
you cant tell me this dude aint a fucking, lazy unmotivated one trick bum.
Jay z is painful to listen to now. Every time he spits, I’m just waiting for him to spit a lame generic verse?
i think jigga is fresh on this one tbh.
i honestly think he takes a lot of the shine away from jay elec.
hov has a lot of energy on this. i actually like a lot of his verses on this as i thought they were different than his norm. i also do not like jay z.
really... if your gonna say this is a 'jay electronica' album you can very well say that it is a jay z album as well.
So what was your point? Is he painful to listen to, lame and generic or fresh?
People are getting upset that Elec dissed jews on this record, and I have to say I'm not a fan of some of the religious/political views on this record. But I'm sure there have been plenty of racist rap albums or just raps that I don't agree with that I've enjoyed over the years so if he really is saying some fucked up shit (I think there's room for interpretation) it doesn't bother me too much.
The whole album is getting repeat spins, that last song is beautiful.
if i understand zoophile correctly he is in the same boat as mister yo... as in we think jay z is a lame but he is surprisingly fresh on his album with jay elec.
jay z is not a business man hes a business man.
and tbh with you sha i doubt jay elec knows what he said about the jews and what it meant either, the annanaki who studied theorized gaddafi flew in from andromeda wearing dashikis placed a string of syllables in his head that he later interpreted as his written testament with h to tha izzo
@ Sha........What Mr Yo said!
Haha
I find Jay-Z hit and miss. He's definitely one of the smartest rappers in the game and he's made classics but he went through a period in the 00s, spilling over into the 10s where he really believed his own hype and was trying way too hard to make pop hits. He made a few good albums in that period, but most of them are unlistenable.
But yeah he wrote a bunch of songs like 'Soon You'll Understand' before he hit that phase that are genius. I think 4.44 and this are very good, he's dropped the idea of trying to make another mainstream hit and its much more creative and interesting.
This was way better than I thought it would be
