    Default Netflix Thread:

a thread dedicated to movies, TV series, anime, etc etc. that is found on Nextflix.

while better movies do exist in the general scheme of film. sometimes i am not always in the mood to d/l/seek out a reliable stream for a movie etc. and on top of that i like to watch movies on a tv and not a computer screen which if i do stream ends up having to be ran through the PS4's internet browsing... no smart tv fyi. and that can sometimes get in the way of the 'netflix and chill' frame of mind.

so this thread is about movies etc. that can be found on Nextflix and that are actually worth watching. because the amount of fucking TRASH i have watched on this service is OUTLANDISH. outlandish to the fact it pisses me off. BUT. there are glimmers of hope and actually some good shiz that can be found on netflix.

so without further ado i guess ill begin.

i'll allow other streaming services to be mentioned in here, like Hulu or Vudu as i have free versions of both BUT one must specify where the movie etc can be viewed at, if its not netflix.

i do not want to just spam a giant list so i will begin slowly with only a few.

The Lobster - dark comedy starring Collin Ferrel. re watched w/ my gf last night.

Dark - a german or dutch tv series about time traveling that reminds me of Twin Peaks. currently on its second season will be wrapped up with a third sometime eventually.

Kakegurui - an anime about a girl in a private academy that revolves around gambling. 2 seasons with an unbelievably solid live action counterpart. the best new anime i have seen in the past 5 years imo.

i have many more good viewing experiences to share that ive encountered on netflix but ill start with that, a movie, a series, and an anime.

I'll watch it very soon and let you know, after Monday I have 9 days off.

The little intro they show on Netflix looks kind of run of the mill, I'm not getting my hopes up. It looks like a military style protector/avenger (not the Marvel kind) movie

Sha I watched 'Sentinelle' and I have to say the movie doesn't sit well with me. at all

I don't want to take away from your viewing experience so beware I'm about to ruin the movie below

As an action movie and a revenge movie it 'works'. Thing is they are trying to elevate the subject matter with a heavy prologue, by involving PTSS, self medicating and the plight of soldiers having to act as peace keepers (essentially walking furniture) in the home country.

the victim is barely there in the movie other than quickly establishing the relationship with the female protagonist

when the villain is revealed his acting is not just terrible but terribad

unsurprisingly the bad guy(s) belong to a certain ethnic group

I will say that the lead performance is credible and the action scenes are choreographed well

all things considered this is a B movie that tries to con the audience into thinking it has serious things to say. But you can't have it both ways as a director

morally speaking this movie is pretty reprehensible. dishonest movie. either go for a drama and tackle those subjects seriously. or go for an action B flick with a female Charles Bronson. don't go mixing up genres because everybody loses

I can't imagine the French armed forces being happy about this movie either btw

Yeah it wasn't good. I was rooting for it cos I think Kurylenko is a great actor, one of these days she'll have a lead in a good film hopefully.
