After years of working on these tracks on and off, I have finally completed my debut album as multi instrumentalist, Junior Wols. Everything that exists on this album was created by myself. From the photos I used on the covers, to the songs, to the recordings. I wrote, performed, mixed, mastered, and produced every song on this album, with no outside assistance. This has been a long time goal of mine, and I'm pretty happy to have finally achieved it.

There are many imperfections on this album. I am a self taught musician, who had no musical background until I picked up a guitar less than 10 years ago and had a few lessons. The other instruments I figured out myself, much further down the track. There are inconsistencies in the rhythms at times, bends that didn't quite hit the right tone, probably even a few bum notes here and there, but I'm pretty proud of putting this whole thing together.

I also consider each song on this album to be an experiment of sorts. I'm still figuring out how to use the skills, abilities, and knowledge that I possess to best create my own original and unique music. I'm not trying to appeal to the masses here. I'm trying to create a sound I can call my own. And I believe I have been successfully achieving that.

Also would like to note that most of the lyrics on this album are pretty dark. Some very dark. This is not a reflection of my default temperament and mindstate. It's the result of most my writing coming from a dark place, as it is when I find myself in those moods that I feel compelled to put pen to pad. These lyrics are a result of things I have been through during the period in which these tracks were crafted. The final track is the one I penned most recently, and best reflects where I'm at in life right now.

I appreciate everybody who has listened to and/or commented on my music along the way, and would like to thank in advance anybody who takes the 42 odd minutes to listen to my complete album. I hope you enjoy it and get something out of it.

Any issues with streaming or downloading, please let me know and I will guide you through the process or send you my music through other means.

    Cheers

all links are working for me.

you made the switch to mediafire?

as you already know this gets spun every now and again at work on my ipod. its a refreshing listen when it comes on. its an easy listen.

the guitar gently eases the listener in to just about every track and the vocals are never tiring, sometimes the vocals leave me wanting to hear more. which is good imo. rather give the listener too little and them to want more than too much and then they dont even want anything anymore. the guitar on most tracks act as additional vocals with the higher notes which are kind of like solos etc etc i dont know exactly how to explain it.

love the main melody in Jessie's Song and the airy harmonic synths in the background and the refrain at the end. lovely track. i still write to that to this day.

giving the tape another spin as i write this. Frozen is a nice little journey of song. lyrics are very morose, then at the end the cadence switches and you think the mood or tone of the lyrics would change with it... but it doesnt. lol.

this listener never really noticed all the imperfections you speak of but im sure they are there if you say they are.

yeah man. impressive shit doing all the instruments on your own, def a tape to be proud of.

i know its a lot of work but since you got the first one under your belt and the experiences to learn from it... are there any thoughts of another JW tape?

    Thanks, bruv.

Lolz, yeah those zippyshare links die pretty quick. Media fire seems to b a lot more long term.

Def wanna do more albums. I'm kinda not writing a whole lot right now, one cos I haven't been super motivated/inspired to do so, n two because I'm kinda thinking might b good to just focus on building my guitar skills/knowledge n then work on some new songs that'll hopefully b a bit fresher n different to what I've been doing, rather than go on doing more of the same based on how I've been constructing songs so far.

But u know I've been trying to get that song with my girlfriend poppin'. That's starting to look less n less likely, lolz. N I'll always have moments where I get inspired to work on something. Should inevitably lead to another album, eventually.

makes me wish I knew how to play instruments

Cheers, Hal. Thanks for listening and commenting. It is indeed a very heavy workload making music like this. You've really gotta b motivated n inspired to do it. It's a very lengthy n laborious process.

Keep Breathing was the first full band track I did, and I still think it's probably the best. It was a very inspired track, and I was super enthused n excited about doing it at the thyme. Like several of my tracks, it went thru numerous changes over the years. Originally I just did an unbroken 16 bar rap at the start, n I never liked it. Tried a few different verses n never liked any of them. Then I came up with that idea of doing a back and forth between my voice n acoustic guitar, n I think that improved it vastly. I'm fully satisfied with it now.

I also like Frozen. It was very experimental n in the end it came together well. Ozone was one where I did a couple of key changes n different sections, n then on Frozen I really went all out on the concept, n to me it was a success.

Thanks for the interest, bro. As u can c I'm pretty passionate about my music.
