sometimes I come across something super 80s I never even heard of

the team behind this group was German, the singers were from Jamaica, the UK and the US

to me they sound like Modern Talking (of 'Brother Louie' fame, also a German project)

I was reading up on them and while they are completely unknown in the UK, the US and Western Europe (except maybe Germany?) they had absolutely massive success in Russia, Eastern Europe, South America and South Africa

it's funny how international success can still be so 'regional'

This track may have been posted already. TIL, it was first offered to Billy Idol, the Fixx, and Roxy music to record. Even Simple Minds didn't want to it, before finally being talked into.

^ The Breakfast Club is such a classic.

I tried watching Pretty In Pink last night. Thats a steaming pile of yuppy shit. Its a John Hughes screenplay that was rewritten and directed by some hack. Jon Cryer deserves a firing squad for his part in it.

^I never got the ending of that movie. It was such an easy one to get right.

IIRC in the original script she was supposed to end up with Cryer's character, but they changed it to the creepy kid from Weekend at Bernies.

I forgot how huge their album 'Welcome to the real world' was in 1985 - it also had 'Broken Wings' and it is just an all aroind very good album.

Singer/bass player Richard Page from Mr Mister was asked to join Toto (replacing singer Bobby Kimball) *and* Chicago (replacing bass player and singer Peter Cetera) in 1984, after Mr Mister had dropped their first album (which didn't do any numbers). I guess big name bands saw his potential. But Page stayed with Mr Mister and released that monster album instead.

By 1990 Mr Mister was over.
