Detroit in its hey day. Kind of a microcosm of the progression of the U.S. What was the inspiration for this?
Tracks was solid btw. You got any other work that is similar?
^ I usually stay away from soul based beats because I don't want to sound like other producers, unless I can think of something interesting to do with them like on this track.
I had called the track Fauxtown cos I thought it sounded a bit like a Motown b-side, so then I looked for a Detroit based vid to use. The vid was a promo for Detroit for businesspeople to come there, but obviously ignoring the crime prevalent in the 70s and painting it as this glamorous place. It's funny because there's another vid thats like the flipside to this discussing the crime problem, with some of the same talking heads. Maybe its a bit pretentious but I want to do a bit of social commentary through the music and vids like this in the future.
