    Default Jazz Thread!

Well, seems we have a thread for every other genre so why not? I go through phases with Jazz, there's so many different styles and moods to explore. I think it's a genre that usually demands your undivided attention so I have to be in the mood to really sit down and focus on it but when I do, it's one of my favorite genres.

Post your favorite stuff, any subgenre or style including Jazz rap. If you know something cool about what you're posting please post it. Lets build.

I don't know much about Max Roach, other than him performing the crazy drums on Birth Of The Cool, but this is a banger.

    cool thread!

Ibrahim Maalouf's new album, '40 Melodies', which contains his older songs in a new version, will drop tomorrow (label 'Mister I.B.E.') Maalouf plays the trumpet. I love his music.

it's good to see he's getting quite a bit of press with his latest release.

Maalouf was born in Lebanon and was visiting relatives in Beirut when the explosion happened a few weeks back btw

here's an early single from the new album

    mesmerizing

Maalouf's father played the trumpet too. Maalouf started to play as well to better connect with his dad, a harsh man. Maalouf is kind of an introvert and prefers the softer and subtle way of playing the trumpet, like Chet Baker's and some of Miles Davis' output

the new album will feature François Delporte (Belgian jazz guitar player), Sting, Marcus Miller (jazz bass player) and French rockstar -M- (real name Matthieu Chedid)

That Maalouf track is really cool Hal. Nice features for his album too, I should check it out.

Marcus Miller I just know from 'Tutu' which I think is an underrated Miles Davis album, and this Jay-Z sample:

I should look into more of his discography.

^ Crusaders have been a big part of the soundtrack to my life, I think I sampled them on my new project. Awesome band.

    Miles might be the GOAT.

There is an obvious sample used from this song. Just have to wait for it.

This is probably considered to be funk, I would say jazz-funk fusion. Still dope

    ^^ hypnotize.

Yeah there's often a crossover with jazz, prog rock, funk, soul in the 70s. JB is funk to my ears but I can hear the crossover.

Gotta give props to jazz rap, I can't imagine I would ever have heard of most jazz fusion artists if not for dope rap songs.
